[REQUEST] Acer Aspire 8930(G) BIOS Unlock
#51
BDMaster & Maxinator500

Thank you so much for the BIOS mod, it worked perfectly!

The only question is about the graphics, it displays a graphics aperture size of 256MB MAX, while my graphics are currently 512MB and I would like to upgrade to 1GB in the near future. Does it require any further mod in order to display 512 or 1024?

Which graphics would you recommend me for my laptop?
Would you recommend to install a NVMe disk onto the free tv-minipcie port? I understand it wouldn't be 4X, but it will be faster than SATA III.

I have got 3 8930G, and I would be doing more technical questions in the future. Big Grin
Greetings from Munich!

The Graphics aperture size setting applies to integrated cards, when discrete ones have a fixed value depending on the chips memory amount. After installing new graphics on the board, you may need not only video BIOS changing, but also some other values align to the BIOS.

I can't help you with this because all I can do is unlock BIOS setup menus.

This requires additional modding too.

Hello, I just flashed this Bios on my 8930G but it still doesn't work with 8 GB of ram. If I put 6 GB it works as the old Bios. Is there any Bios that let me use all the 8 GB (2x 4GB) of the ram? Because the hardware should support it.

Hello, I'm looking for an unlocked bios that shows the advanced setting and the UEFI boot settings. I currently have a modified BIOS on it, but it only shows the advanced settings. So I ask someone to help activate UEFI settings, but keep the Advanced setting.

My laptop model:
Acer Aspire 8930g
Intel Core 2 Duo T9400
Nvidia Gt 9700t

(If I misspelled something, it's because I can't write English very well, so I apologize.)

I know this is an absolutely ancient laptop but I bought a Q9000 SLGEJ for it and it doesn't work, can anyone add support for the Q9000 to this? Many thanks <3

Hello, my name is Antonio, I know that this thread is from a long time ago but although I already have another laptop, I have my acer aspire 8930g working perfectly and I wanted to install a mining program but it asks me to activate virtualization, which from what I have read my processor Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 @3.06GHz CPU, it has it but my bios doesn't.
I know I have to update it 1.21, but I don't know, I need your help, first to download the correct version and then for you to tell me how to do it, thank you.

Edit: because no one answers me

Hi again, thanks for the wonderful job you've done.

I succesfully installed your modded bios on the three 8930g I have, and they mysteriously were bricked after a while, some months after and I kept using other computers after they failed. I didn't have the time to take care of the computers again until now, I downloaded the 1.20 and 1.21 bios, and tried to make a flash usb thumb from another computer, the program said that "the driver is missing". I'm using W11 and will keep searching for a tool that allows me to flash the computers again before booting. When I made the upgrade, it was 2021 and I lost the files I used to get it done. Which utility would you recommend me to make the Bios-Resurrection-USB thumb, since the .exe didn't work?

I've got one with a Q9000, and tried a P8400 in another to check if it was a processor's failure but it didn't work. So well, thanks for reading me and any help or assistance will be appreciated. Have a nice time!!!

PD: I bought a 18.4" led display from an Acer 8942 and will try to make the upgrade from CCFL using a small adapter for it. I tried another miniPCIE to M.2 adapter in a more modern computer and it isn't clear if I'd be able to do the same with any of this computers, maybe running the OS from a pci lane could be faster than the good old SATA II.
