HP ZD8000 Cpu support upgrade
#1
I currently have an HP ZD8000 with i915P chip set w/ p4 650.

The mfg supports up to 660 - I wish to use 670 or 672. The chip set supports both, the bios does not.

My bios can be found here;
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp31501-32000/sp31537.exe

Intel's own motherboards supporting the i915p are;

CY91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PSY
CY91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PGN
DT91510J.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PDT
CY91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PCY
CY91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PCM
CY91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PBL
VG91510A.86A Intel® Desktop Board D915PLWD

I'm not sure if they all support the 672 or not, but the intel 915p chip set does so I would 'assume so' you can select one of their bios from this link;

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboard...39.htm#915

I deffer to your judgment as which bios would be the best for my situation.

EDIT: noticed @ http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=1681&DwnldID=11843&lang=eng
This download is also valid for the products listed below. Use the links below for additional product downloads:

Intel® Desktop Board D915PBL
Intel® Desktop Board D915PCM
Intel® Desktop Board D915PCY
Intel® Desktop Board D915PGN
Intel® Desktop Board D915PSY

I am also keenly interested in increased the supported memory to the max allowed by the chip set ( I believe this is 8gb, currently limited to 2gb, would be happy with 4gb! )

I would be happy to donate should you be successful!

We cannot modify Intel Bioses , as they are their own individual format , neither ami , award or phoenix

Not a problem friend, this MSI board also utlizes the same chipset and supports my requested CPU and memory allotment Smile

Uhhh.... the link to your BIOS in the original post is for an ATI graphics card bios?

not that I'm aware of, though there is ati x600 built into the board, the page with the link is here;

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...ob-36776-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1137817&os=228&lang=en

Very hopeful that my bios can be modded to support p4 672 chip and more memory, as the i915p chipset itself supports both Smile

I would be curious if there's any options in the bios that have been hidden/disabled that might give me some better choices.
PS: some work has been done previous to this bios here;
http://www.bios-mods.com/showthread.php?tid=1156

I would also enjoy slic 2.1 enabled/added

Which Bios is the problem?

I'm a little confused as my bios was previously edited here;
http://www.bios-mods.com/showthread.php?tid=1156

And the BIOS I referenced here;
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downlo...rod_no=154
is 'AMI' - if needed I can find a different reference bios..

So please tell me, which bios is the problem?

Sorry , from the big list of intel boards in your post i assumed you only had a intel bios , which isnt ami or award or phoenix so we cant mod

You have a phoenix bios , its already been modded for SLIc and we cannot unlock phoenix bioses yet

Ok, now I'm really confused. Are you saying my bios is a phoenix, and you can't unlock it? ( but you can mod it??? )

Well, it seems this bios isnt Award/AMI/Phoenix at all, and is an Intel BIOS< which no one has any knowledge of whatsoever in the WWW.

Sorry,
