First of all: I am not responsible for any damage you do to your laptop by flashing this BIOS, understand that if your BIOS gets corrupted somehow, it will result in a brick!
Requirements:
AfuWin 3.05.04 > Download
A backup of your original rom
The modified rom > Download
Extracting AfuWin:
- Open up "AMIBIOS_and_Aptio_AMI_Firmware_Update_Utility.zip"
- Go to "amiflash>Aptio>afuwin>64>afuwin64.zip
- Extract the afuwin64 folder somewhere
Backup your original rom:
- Open a command prompt as admin in the Afuwin64 folder you just extracted
- Type "AFUWINx64.exe backup.rom /O" (without quotes)
- Save the generated file somewhere safe so you can still access it if you pc won't boot
Installing modified rom:
- Make sure your laptop is plugged in
- Close all windows
- Disable your antivirus
- If you have windows 10, make sure no updates are pending (so it doesn't auto restart during the flash)
- Copy the modified rom you downloaded to the Afuwin64 folder
- Make sure that the modified rom you copied is EXACTLY 6293504 bytes
- Go back to the admin command prompt in your Afuwin64 folder
- Type "AFUWINx64.exe S551LBUnlocked.bin /GAN"
- If you get any sort of error like size mismatch, DO NOT flash the bios
- Press Y when prompted
- Restart your laptop and see if it worked
Please post your results here if everything went well or something went wrong
Hello nnvt!
First of all, thank you alot for your kind help, before i go ahead and flash this bios mod, mind I ask of how much certain are you that this mod will work the way it's expected to? how safe this is? is there a way to debrick/unbrick the BIOS if it does not respond after the flash?
Thank you, I am sorry for questioning your work but It's better to be safe than sorry.
