[REQUEST] Bios Mod for MSI MS-7358 v1.1 Medion PC + (Re) Add missing AHCI option ROM
#1
Can anyone please do this for me ?

I can't add the Option Rom drivers anymore when I do a clean Win install. In boot up I get the following message:

AHCI Option Rom Bios Rev 01.05.90 Date 11-30-2007

AHCI Opion Rom NOT Installed !!!!

How do I at least get the correct Option Rom back in the bios ? Added Posts with Original Medion Bios and now present and wurking Bios 1.1 D with SLIC 2.1 mod.

More than perfect would to also be able AHCI / RAID control in the system bios. There is only "IDE" option available and no "RAID Mode" en "AHCI Devices Group" options are visible.

Original 1.1 D from Medion:

.rar   bio7358gr.rar (Size: 542.96 KB / Downloads: 67)

My present 1.1 D with SLIC 2.1 mod

.rar   Medion_W7358MLN_11D_MEDION_SLIC_DYNAMIC.rar (Size: 917.52 KB / Downloads: 102)

bio7358gr.exe extract folder.rar (475.61 KB)

.rar   bio7358gr.exe extract folder.rar (Size: 475.61 KB / Downloads: 55)

Realy hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance !

Regards JP

Thank you for you're reply.

Replaced Corrupted Original Bios File 1.1 D in my first post with a fresh and just downloaded Original Bios File 1.1 D from Medion site. Then compressed it to .RAR archive.

Added extra .RAR of the same "just downloaded bios file 1.1 D" but extracted it first to a new folder before compressing it to .RAR archive.

I just looked at the 1.1d bios with CBROM.
It already contains an AHCI Option ROM from from Phoenix Technologies (v1.05.90).
And looking at it with ModBin there is a SATA Mode Menu Item so you should be able to Choose AHCI Mode.

So I suppose you need a SATA Drive attached and Set to AHCI Mode in BIOS Setup.

Thanks for you're reply. Strange that they are in it because I can't enable or disable AHCI / RAID control in the system bios. There is only "IDE" option available and no "RAID Mode" en "AHCI Devices Group" options are visible. Never was. Standard it was programmed to alway's be in AHCI / RAID. In boot up I still get the following message:

AHCI Option Rom Bios Rev 01.05.90 Date 11-30-2007
AHCI Opion Rom NOT Installed !

This after multiple successful flashes. Only the Marvell controller will work. If I do a clean install with Win 7 I can't add the Intel AHCI / RAID drivers like it could in the past. A install whitout loading the AHCI / RAID driver is no problem. Breaking my head on this problem for some time now.
About 20 months ago Medion replaced the original CPU and they had to do a bios update to get the new one to work. This was from bios ver 1.1 B to 1.1 D. About two months ago I had to do the first clean install after Medion's CPU switch and Bios update. From that time on I get that missing ROM message in bootup screen. Medion wouldn't help so my dad bought a new (Dell) PC and he "killed" (for precaution) Medions 2 original SATA Seagate HDD's wit a hammer so all private data from his work couldn't leak out. He bought 2 WD SATA hdd's for me to replace te originals. The mobo has only 2 intel Sata and 1 Marvell Sata connections.
Added some files with info of my system and bios. Perhaps you can see what is wrong because something is. But what ? Hope you can help.

I'am posting in this thread as i have exactly the same issu. i flashed the W7358MLN.11D and i tried the W73_SLIC.11D and having the "AHCI Opion Rom NOT Installed !" message when booting.
I reflashed the 7358IM72.11B and the AHCI is back "AHCI rom installed".
I just looked at the 1.1d and the 11B bios with modbin. The 11B have AHCI by default in the SATA Mode Menu Item and the 11D have IDE by default and AHCI is in the options.
This item does not appear in the bios menu when flashed and is not accessible !
I dont know anything in modding bios but I tried to do it my self with modbin by using +/- but when saving the new file cant be re opened with modbin that end with "bootblock not found" So i think that there's something that i'am doing wrongAngry
Can any one please put the AHCI by default in the SATA Mode Menu Item of the W73_SLIC.11D
Thanks in advance. and sorry for my bad English.

Good thing that you found what the exact problem is. If someone can and would correct this wrong BIOS setting then please do! I certainly could appreciate it.

Same problem with 11D. Can someone send me orig. Medion BIOS 7358im72.11b + installer please?

What will happen if I try BIOS for MSI-Q35MDO on Medion MS_7358 V1.1? It is a bit different. Medion is using Phoenix Award and MSI has AMI-BIOS.
