Request: Supermicro C2SBX+ motherboard possible hidden menus for memory settings?
#21
Hello All of You,

I think that it would be best for me to scrap the mods that I have done on the latest BIOS and start over again on the older BIOS so that all of the special features can be added. If there are more visible features (including visible overclocking and voltage settings) in the older BIOS, then the number of hidden features must be even higher than before. The XMP setting is probably hidden (not linked) in the older version. I will check it out and update you on my findings.

Later on, I am going to leave a longer post. I am working on it right now. It is very long and detailed. Basically, I advanced my ability to mod the Phoenix BIOS a LOT yesterday and I am going to apply my new-found knowledge to your BIOS mod so that it can have 2x more unlocked items than I would have been able to add before yesterday. For example, your Main menu is going from 23 items to 40+ items. Your Advanced Menu is going to get several more sub-menus. Existing sub-menus will be upgraded and hidden settings will be made visible by a nop (assembly code instruction).

Besides the Main menu mod, I am primarily searching for and adding graphics settings and an ideal place to put them.

I am going to post images of your new Main menu in a while. Please tell me if there are any rearrangements/reorganizing that you wish to have done in the new Main menu after I upload the images. You can tell me by modifying the picture with arrows pointing to where you want items placed OR you can create a list with the new item order for the Main menu in a text document.

That is a long journey then, since there has been numerous changes to the Bios after that latest one with the overclocking feature. But for youcells to learn from the experience and get the satisfaction reward of success from that, must be worth of it! Heart

Do you have any knowledge by chance, what are the differences with XMP 1.0 protocol memory modules and newer XMP 1.3 modules example. No google or Wiki give layman terms easy answer, so we're wondering...

We know, that the XMP 1.3 version modules don't boot up with the Bios XMP function enabled on the motherboard. Could it be that this 2.0a bios is forcing that 1,95V to dimm voltage, and that is too much for the XMP 1.3 (1,5V) modules to work with and they protect themselves???

What, what, what??? Big Grin

Is there some graphics settings???

The motherboard doesn't have integrated graphics chip, so those make no sense, or are they just universal settings to allow to change the GPU's boot preferences?

For example they had once a bug that made the AMD HD5600 series to give error code and not boot up, and they fixed it rather fast with the bios update.

Hello We of Us,

The "preview" image is located at the bottom of this post. I have not added the Main menu mod yet. This is the older image, I will apply the same mods to the older image later on.

DO NOT FLASH THIS IMAGE, IT HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED YET!!!

Use PBE to emulate the BIOS image.

I have about 21 more items to add to the list. I have uploaded a text file (bottom of this post) showing all of the 40 items (excluding the PS/2 mouse - tell me if you wish to include this). Reorganize the items as you wish to have them ordered and I will mod the BIOS accordingly.

Thank you.

The 'CPU Type' should tell you the model of the processor that you are using (QX9770).

Hello We of Us,

I believe that I have finalized the first version of the BIOS mod for the newer BIOS!

Here is what the Main Menu will look like:

I had to restructure massive amounts of multiple areas near the beginning of the TEMPLAT module.

All I have to do now is verify all of the mods that I have done to make sure that they are safe and won't cause one or more of the BIOS menus to hang. This will take some time. I should have the BIOS done tomorrow though.

Hello We of Us,

I have finished your BIOS mod! The modified BIOS image is at the bottom of this post.

I have included pictures of all of the screens from your modified BIOS image. Right now the "Integrated Device Control Sub-Menu" is empty and redundant, but I plan to fix this menu in the near future. Please compare what should show up with what actually shows up, so that I can fix any visibility issues.

Please note that this mod includes a lot of restructuring near the beginning of the TEMPLAT module as well as a lot of changed offsets. While this is theoretically safe and there is no reason why it will brick, I just wanted to let you know this as I have not done this before. The worst that would happen is that you would only be able to access the OS, but not the BIOS menus. This is VERY unlikely though. I have verified that all other mods are both theoretically and experimentally safe.

I am going to begin checking if the overclocking settings can be "easily" imported from the old BIOS.

Now for the usual disclaimers/warnings...
Quote: Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that (if applicable) your notebook is fully charged (100%), the power plug is properly connected, and that the chance of the power going out is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is a good idea to have a working CRISIS recovery disk when messing with your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result/consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash!
