[Unlocked] Acer Aspire 5741G (v1.23) + UEFI BIOS Alpha Test
#51
Hi

I have an Acer 5741 which appears to use exactly the same bios as the 5741g.  I was after UEFI support, Intel SpeedStep and Intel Hyperthreading options, (overlocking would be nice too) any other options would be beneficial too. Could you indicate which of the above would be the most suited as there seems to be a few floating around on here??

I assume also I should prepare the following process before proceeding just in case it fails.
http://aspiregemstone.blogspot.co.uk/200...overy.html
I assume none of these flashes interfere with bios bootblock, right??

Mine came with an I3 m330 2.13ghz processor.
upgraded to 1x4 and 1x2 (6gb) ram.
What is the highest or fastest mobile processor this laptop can take with the original bios and or the modded bios??
If I did upgrade can I use the standard fan?
Can I revert back to standard Acer bios after flashing with one of these posted in the forum?

Thanks

I have added the 2120 ironlake bios and the latest microcode into the uefi bios which you can download there:
https://mega.nz/#!hUl3HbjI!LBjhWUj3cuyIt...f3ePbGvFXg

PS: This bios allows as well to use more than 2,3GB memory with the Acer Travelmate 5740. For 4GB RAM 3,68GB can be used.

I tried updating some of the microcodes I could find and intel ME firmware but I'm far from success because I don't know which tools I have to use. Over at WinRaid forum, there are tools, but they don't work for this bios.

I attached the latest Intel ME firmware for our chipset which couldn't be updated using the Intel ME systemtools because it's somewhat locked/protected.
With Insyde_EzH2O_v2.1.0.13 I could add the new microcodes, but not delete the old ones.
The latest microcodes can be found here. I saw that two of the files aren't in the database.
I wonder how you replaced things in the bios, I'd like to know.

Edit:
New updates can be found here

Im after a flash to remove the wifi/bluetooth white list. I have an Intel 7260ac adapter which although working sometimes takes a long time time to load. Im also after the options to enable/ disable virtualization, full bug free UEFI support too. Speedstep and turbo boost would also be a bonus. Dont want to update the firmware only the bios. Any recommendations, there seems to be a few on this post??

Hi!

I have an Acer Travelmate 5740ZG, it came with 2*2GB of DDR3 1333.
I now purchased 2*4GB DDR 1600 with which the notebook posts but does not come very far.
I installed this bios (works flawless!) to see if it would change something- and it does not.
If I enable the memory test during post it runs until 12% is reached and then freezes.

Is there a whitelist for memory modules in the bios or is this really a hardware incompatibility?

The memory modules are not fully inserted, check that there is no left an empty space in the slot keys.

Hmm, I inserted them in every combination very thoroughly, I even mixed them with the old modules. I don't think that I can insert the old modules (which are back in and working now) better than the new ones.
In combination with an old module the BIOS memory test freezes at other percentages.

Can someone please re-post the latest working UEFI BIOS for the Acer 5741g?

The zippyshare no longer works.

Thanks!
