Anyone currently running a "Nettle2" motherboard please post info about your setup. We are trying to compile a list of known working cpu's for this board. Please include model and speed of cpu, board oem (ie. acer, hp, etc), and bios revision that you are using. Once we have enough data a list will be made available. Thanks

I have a homebrew-PC with a MCP61PM-AM Rev:1.0 out of an Acer E380 and it works with the stock AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ as it does with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+...
At the moment it works with an AMD Phenom (I) X4 9500 @ 65 W, 4Gb DDR2 800, WinXP/Win7/Linux and a modded Stock-Acer-BIOS...
And finally I once had to change some capacitors so the available specs differ a little bit off the original mainboard!
I apologize if this isn't the correct thread this belongs in, I am just trying to get some answers, and it seems this is the correct thread?
I have the Acer Aspire E380, in detail:
DMI BIOS
phoenix Technologies, LTD
version R01-B3
date 02/07/2007
Mainboard Model EM61SM/EM61PM

1. When updating to the latest MANUFACTURE bios,(I have not yet) what is the best CPU I can possibly install? How big of a power supply do I need for that chip? Stock cooling sufficent?

2. After downloading the lastest bios from the Acer website, it comes with a program WINFLASH. Instead of making a disk etc, can't I just use that program? Also the instructions that come along in the file are very vague. What boxes do I leave checked, and what boxes do I not? Any further instructions needed?(not to sure how to use this program, even after looking for further help).

3. I have been reading alot that this board locks up with anything over 2GB ram installed. Anyone have any insite on this?

I apologize in advance if my questions have been asked 42,000 times .
I also thank you in advance for possible answerd questions.

3. I have been reading alot that this board locks up with anything over 2GB ram installed. Anyone have any insite on this?

I have had many different combinations of ram in my nettle 2 with no issues whatsoever. like 2 x 1gb, 2 x 2gb, 2 x2gb and 2 x 1gb sticks of different speeds and brand.
Nettle 2?
Best possible CPU anyone?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

was at 3G, now a simple freq adjust to 230 runs it at 3.3G

What was the negative?: my 4G ram (3.5G usable in XP Pro 32 bit) now shows only as 3G usable.
