haven't seen anybody do this w/ an asus mobo yet. Is it possible?

Yes it is possible to add custom splash screens to these boards
I think the reason no one really does the mod on the ASUS boards
is due to ASUS having the MyLogo Program which is a risk free
way of doing this mod
