[REQUEST] Acer Aspire One ZG5 AOA110 & AOA150 Menu Unlock
#1
Rainbow
Hi!

Can I start by saying what an amazing Site / Forum this is!

Can't believe I've only just found it Smile

To cut a long story short, I am trying to sort out an Acer Aspire One Notebook which kept grinding to a halt after an XP Install.

I have narrowed down the issue to the SSD, which is a Samsung P-SSD1800 (16GB).

Anyways, I have been on a journey and a half through Google and now believe that some sector / partition alignment along with a dash of AHCI may be just the tonic before my 3rd attempted reinstall of XP!

I have looked in the BIOS for IDE / SATA Settings but there are none Sad

The BIOS in question is v.3310, the Acer Web Site link is

http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...SC=EMEA_27

Is there a modded BIOS for the Acer Aspire One AOA110 which would provide support for AHCI?

Thanks again for any help

Chris

Oops - perhaps my first post was a little premature.

I downloaded the BIOS from

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?lbltcbviirzimsr

and I am not overwhelmed with a plethora of options in BIOS Smile

Thank you.

Take in accout that that crappy SSD in AOA110 is IDE. While AHCI is a SATA port feature.

Hi

What I meant to say is that I *AM* overwhelmed by BIOS Setup Options.

The P-SSD1800 is connected via IDE then? I was a little confused as it's just a chip on a board.

http://images.esellerpro.com/2131/I/516/...%20036.jpg

I have enabled AHCI and XP still boots just BSODs, which is what made me think that it supports AHCI.

All I really want to do is to erase the SSD, format it with the correct sector size?? and then re-install from a slipstreamed XP CD containing AHCI drivers.

After installing XP last time, the performance of the drive was dreadful.

HOWEVER, the Flashfire Driver made an AMAZING improvement in performance, unfortunately it was short lived as it BSOD's a day or 2 later.

I appreciate the p-SSD 1800 is ancient and "crappy", but I still need to solve my problem Smile

Sad
Hi all.
After having installed the bios quoted, the system shuts down by itself on every reboot or start.
Re-flashed the original ACER bios and problem fixed. However I managed to take a quick look at the modded bios and the features are great. However, as I said, I cannot use it because of shut downs..
Any ideas please?
