[REQUEST] Acer Aspire One AO725 BIOS Unlock

Regards

Thanks a lot for the prompt response!
Now my other problem is, that the Fn+Esc method doesn't work on here... If I press the powerbutton longer, it shuts off again after 3 seconds. There is no orange color light on the power button, and the blue light that's supposed to flash and then get steady when Fn+Esc is released also isn't happening.

I couldn't flash using an exe, until I used a version 2.12, but that one didn't have the fix for AMD-V.

So I'm hoping to either find an exe that I can use, or a method of getting crisis mode to work. I have aa AO725-0826.

No not possible as It is RSA Signed and Encapsulated :

You have an AMD CPU so only Recovery Mode is possible or have to Downgrade !

Rename Bios file as Recovery Name ZHGBIOS.fd
Then format an USB Stick in FAT32 mode and copy into that file . . .

Performing the emergency flash:

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

Allright... Thanks for the repost about the emergency flash.
Is it better to have the whole USB stick formatted as a FAT device (/dev/sdb) or first partition (1 partition) and then make FAT32 on /dev/sdb1? I think I made this in Windows by formatting the existing partition, but the partition table was already there, made by fdisk.
Will it help if the partition is smaller than 2GB, like 512MB for instance? (This drive is just under 2GB, but it is a microSD card; all my USB sticks are 4GB minimum...)

YES!! It flashed and I have loads of options, and managed to turn AMD-V on.

For posterity:
Because I didn't have a small USB stick, I just made 1 partition of size 500MB and formatted that VFAT, put the .fd file on it, and with BDMaster's procedure for entering Crisis mode it worked straight away! (It was nice to have a led on this USB stick so I could see it was indeed read from!)

Thanks for helping me through BDMaster!

I have an Acer Aspire One laptop (exact model 725-0691) which has been upgraded to 8GB RAM and Windows 10 pro.

It was previously upgraded to the 1.08 bios when it was running windows 7 and I got that bios from
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/su...53;-;AO725

I re flashed it with the 1.08 bios using the fd file downloaded from the following pageĀ using the recovery procedure with a USB stick.
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-F...e-725-0825

Flashing seemed to go fine and Windows 10 started up afterwards but task manager still says virtualization disabled and hyper-v won't install.

Is there a way to get a version of the 1.08 bios which does allow virtualization to be enabled?

Thanks

I have a AO725 which i want to reboot upon power loss, hence i need advanced options.

Bios link (BIOS_Acer_1.08_A_A) - https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...ER&SC=PA_6

or the UEFI one if easier (BIOS_Acer_2.12_A_A.zip) - https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...ER&SC=PA_6

I don't have the build in keyboard so i need to flash it under some os (dos, windows, linux).

There is a thread for this model being unlocked, but there are no working links and most people report bricking the device.

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-U...725?page=7

Thanks in advance!
