CPU upgrade in Compaq CQ60 (Intel)
#1
Hi,

before i start, sorry my English, i'm not very fluent in English but i will try to explain my problem.

I'm trying to upgrade the cpu from my Laptop, which is an Compaq Cq60, with an T3400 to an P8700.

The HP guarantees that P8600 it's compatible, but i put the p8700 in the laptop, and nothing appears, just a black screen. And not even the BIOS screen.

The Hp told me that i have to activate something in Bios related with multiplicator, but i can´t find anything.

Can someone help me?

Thanks

There are several different versions of the CQ60. It will be much easier when you clarify which one you have and which BIOS it is.
To give you a hand here is a link to the german compaq-support, prechosen for the CQ60-series...

So you have the CQ60-210EP (this is the only "EP" I can find) and the BIOS F.63 which can be found here:

The Bios for this laptop is this one:

Whats really strange is that the P8600 and P8700 have the same CPUID and the same microcode so i dont know why one doesnt work and the other does!
