[REQUEST] ASUS GL503VM BIOS unlock
#1
Hello, i have gl503vm asus notebook. It gets very loud when the cpu and gpu reaches 71 degrees. I checked the bios with AMIBCP and indeed the threshold is 72 degrees. However this is unnecessary. I edited the degree to 89 degrees but i cannot flash. AFUWIN doesnt flash it saying "unable to create a secure flash session".

No matter what i did, i couldnt flash it.

Help needed.

Hi All,

I'm looking to unlock BIOS in my laptop to be able to enable/use integrated iGPU settings in BIOS. For some reason, I'm only able to use GTX 1060 at the moment.
Would anyone be able to help me with this, please?

Link to BIOS:

Thanks.

Can you see "Chipset" section of BIOS already? If not, please get images (F12 onto USB, or camera) of the BIOS, one showing all visible tabs/sections, and one each of the following Main, Advanced, Boot, security and save & Exit.

This can be done via BIOS mod to enable the chipset section for you hopefully, or it can be done by booting to grub and changing a few settings. If your laptop does not have USB Flashback feature, then you will be booting to grub anyway in order to unlock BIOS Lock so you can flash the modified BIOS with FPT.

If you are familiar with grub and setup_var already, following settings are all you need to change, and here's a general guide for another purpose, but it will get you booting to grub if you follow along. This guide is for unlocking the BIOS Lock mentioned above to flash modified BIOS, but use in same way for below variables)
https://www.win-raid.com/t3908f16-GUIDE-...-BIOS.html

Primary Display, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0x7F8 << This variable used to change this setting
One Of Option: Auto, Value (8 bit): 0x3 {09 07 8D 00 00 00 03}
One Of Option: IGFX, Value (8 bit): 0x0 {09 07 49 05 00 00 00}
One Of Option: PEG, Value (8 bit): 0x1 (default) {09 07 4A 05 30 00 01} << This is default value 0x1
One Of Option: PCI, Value (8 bit): 0x2 {09 07 4B 05 00 00 02}
One Of Option: SG, Value (8 bit): 0x4 {09 07 4C 05 00 00 04} << This is one you need to change to 0x4

So, grub command >> Setup_Var 0x7F8 0x4

And this is next setting you need to change
Internal Graphics, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0x7FE
One Of Option: Auto, Value (8 bit): 0x2 {09 07 8D 00 00 00 02}
One Of Option: Disabled, Value (8 bit): 0x0 (default) {09 07 8F 00 30 00 00} << Default 0x0
One Of Option: Enabled, Value (8 bit): 0x1 {09 07 8E 00 00 00 01} << Change to 0x1

So, grub command >> Setup_Var 0x7FE 0x1

Hi,

Ok, My problem is I can't see "Chipset" to switch between integrated GPU and GTX 1060 in BIOS and I don't know why Asus with this model disable Intel iGPU to be honest. Before I bought this laptop I was checking internet and in some places, it was saying that it has intel 630 and GTX 1060 and in others, it was only listed with 1060! and my model has only 60hz screen and this is why GTX 1060 doesn't have G-sync this is why I was thinking that Intel 630 should be available?

But I don't know much about changing this values/commands with grub and I don't want to accidentally brick my laptop by mistake.

What is the best and safest way to do it?

Please see attached zip file with Bios images.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the images. Sometimes they disable because the remove the traces or resistors etc, so integrated cannot work, or some models may use same board and CPU without integrated GPU, so it saves them $$ in certain situations and saves time using same BIOS base.

It is much safer for you to change the above using grub, vs flashing a BIOS (Stock or modified). The guide is detailed and lots of steps shown, so you should be able to follow along easily. If you have any questions stop where you're at in the process and ask, I can help. Plus, to flash modified BIOS you will need to boot to grub and make similar changes anyway, unless your system has USB Flashback (Did you check this, on Asus website, in overview, specs page, or manual)?

Or, I can attempt to unlock BIOS for you, up to you?

Hello all.

Just requesting a whitelist removal and unlock. (Preferably just a whitelist removal if there is one to allow a egpu)
*File attached*

The AMI 315 Bios is bare bones. From hours of google search I can't find any info or unlocked bios for this model or if it has a whitelist since some components are upgradeable. More Ram, M.2 ssd, HDD/SSD etc.

It's for my future egpu install into the m.2 ngff slot removing the wifi/bluetooth adaptor.

Asus GL503VM SPECS
  • CPU. Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • GPU. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB GDDR5)
  • HDD/SSD. 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD, 7200 rpm.
  • RAM. 16GB DDR4, 2400 MHz.
Thanks Guys!
