hi, don't want to open new thread
could you modify bios/whitelist to accept different wifi card (here user claims that he was able to do this for x240 https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-L...el-7620-AC ), or guide me to do this on my own (my trials so far lead to no succes)

id of current card: 10EC 818B 001B 10EC
card that should be also supported by t540p: 8086 08b2 8086 c270
card that i want to work (id from the error message): 8086 08B1 8086 C170
bios GMET66WW, link is: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj10us.exe

Trying to upgrade my WLAN card in my T540p to a Wireless-AC card, it currently says that it is unauthorized, which totally sucks.

Here's the info... I am using BIOS gmuj14us/GMET70WW which can be found here - http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj14us.exe

PCI ID of current WLAN card - PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B2&SUBSYS_C2628086&REV_6B

I accept any risk associated with modifying my bios...

Here is the backup of my current bios, please let me know if anything else is needed!

Please help!!

Sweet thanks! Apparently I need an external SPI programmer, so when the one I ordered gets here I will try it out!

I am in the process of procuring an external SPI programmer and clip so that I can perform this upgrade.

Thanks!

hi, just a few days ago I found cheap programmer that has got support for bios chips used in mine t540p (i wrote their numbers in the other thread) - "EZP_XPro" - can be found on aliexpress for $28. Other cheap solution that should also work is to use eg. arduino or raspberry-pi with flashrom (flashrom.org) bios flasher and pomona clip. Other flashers, like CH341A, TL866CS...(that can be found for a few $ on ebay) based do not have got support for my bios chips in their software, but maybe they would be able to read/write them.
I don't have got time to deal with it now (writing master thesis, hopefully, in a two months i'll have got time for it). If you'll have any luck, please post. Saw your other thread Smile
btw, if you need, i can send you also info where the bios chips are - basically, you need to disassemble whole chases.

Thanks, any info you have would be greatly appreciated, I just started looking at the programmers. Wish I could get something stateside so I didn't have to wait 2 weeks for it.
