[REQUEST] Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1 (GQETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
#31
Thanks BDMaster! I just tried to flash modified bios and got the same error as borish:

Quote:Error 280: Failed to diable write protection for the BIOS space

As far as I understand there is no other way except direct rewriting EEPROM which means I have to use installed Wi-Fi adapter

I just tried with prr.exe but it still comes up with Error28
Where can i find prr2.exe?

----EDIT----

Found PRR2.EXE from your other thread.
Now it gives me
"Flash protection could not be removed."

---EDIT 2 ----
I guess this is the point where I look for other solutions like flashing the wireless card.
Thank you for all the help BDMaster.

Has anyone tried to put a wifi card in the m.2 slot? Is that slot whitelisted? Would the pigtails reach? There seems to be enough slack. I don't have the laptop yet, I will tomorrow. I also ordered an m.2 wifi card just to test it out, but it is coming in from China and I ordered it today (9/3/2014) so I am not sure when it will be arriving. When I get the wifi card, I will let you all know if it works. If someone can try this before me, please do. Thanks. Also, take a look at this link. Maybe Lenovo can do it for us.

Does anyone know if these would work on the Thinkpad Yoga? I just ordered 2. They are Lenovo FRU 03T7135 which has wireless AC and bluetooth 4.0. I don't see why they would not work since they are for Lenovo computers so they should be on the whitelist right? I will let you know if they work, but they are coming in from China so it will be a couple of weeks.

This is basically the same card as the Azurewave AW-CE123H and not too much more expensive. It will be worth it if it works. They are Linux compatible and Mac compatible with the 5ghz patch and kext from Toleda. I have used the Azurewave card before in my other hackbooks and Hack Pros with great success. I just hope these work in the Thinkpad Yoga. I have heard they work in Lenovo Thinkpad models Y510P Y410P NEW X1 M92P M93P E440 E540 S440, but there is no mention of the Thinkpad Yoga. I just hope it is because the Thinkpad Yoga is a newer model than the others. I will let you all know.

Well, mini pcie card FRU 03T7135 does not work. It causes a system halt. Lenovo's own wifi card for Thinkpads is not on the whitelist. That is great. My next hope is that the m.2 card BCM94352Z works and the m.2 slot has no whitelist. I have one on order from China and I will let you know if it works.

I am still waiting on the m.2 card, but in the mean time you could just put the computer to sleep, then swap cards and wake up. You still have to boot with a supported card or it will not wake from sleep. The FRU 03T7135 wifi card and any other should work fine with this technique of hotswap or hotplug. If you never turn off your laptop and only put it to sleep, this could work ok, unless you have a lot of updates that need rebooting or have a dual boot or triple boot laptop, this is as good as it gets for now. Make sure it has plenty of battery if you do this. I am sure it can sleep for days and be fine. I will let you know soon about the m.2 card since it is in my state now so it should not be long for delivery.

It is a no go on the m.2 BCM94352Z. It is keyed differently (different notch) than the port on the Thinkpad yoga. I guess it was a rookie mistake on my part. Maybe it is time for a usb wifi dongle until a whitelist removed bios comes out. Maybe the Asus USB-AC51 would be nice until tthen. This is mainly to run in OS X which of course does not have any compatibility with wifi cards by intel. I have the AC version of 7260 in mine, but it is as good as useless in OS X.
