[REQUEST] HP Pavilion dv6-3100 series (AMD) Whitelist Removal
#1
HP dv6z-3100, currently running latest F.29 Insyde BIOS.

- Bios download link from manufacturer site.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61001-61500/sp61028.exe

- PCI ID of the Wifi/WWAN card that originally came with the laptop.
VEN_14E4&DEV_4353&SUBSYS_1509103C&REV_01

I would like to be able to install an Intel 7260 AC card.

I've attempted to find an existing vendor string to replace but my search results are finding multiple files in the Dump folder.  I'm at a loss as to which module to look in for the vendor whitelist.

Thanks in advance!

HP Pavilion dv6z-3100 CTO BDMaster

Could You Downgrade to a previous version F.28 ?
You can use Recovery Bios Procedure to Downgrade !

Use this tool run It as Admin and upload here the result file :

http://rghost.net/7GBZt7FVt

http://rghost.net/53128665

Use AIDA64 tool too (cracked version to get FULL REPORT) and upload a Report too

let me know

Yea, that's the right HP link.

What would be the benefit of downgrading the BIOS?  To get off the 2MB version or something (I have read that one seems to be more difficult to mod)?

I'll run those tools this evening and report back.

Thanks.

Ok I will explain in this way :

HP Pavilion dv6z-3100 CTO BDMaster

Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Windows 7
Version Date Size SoftPaq
F.29 02-2013 4.2 MB sp61028.exe Not Moddable
F.28 04-2011 4.2 MB sp52953.exe Not Moddable
F.27 04-2011 4.2 MB sp52619.exe ^
F.26 03-2011 4.2 MB sp52214.exe ^
F.23 11-2010 4.2 MB sp51090.exe ^
F.15 10-2010 3.9 MB sp50490.exe ^
F.14 09-2010 3.9 MB sp50365.exe ^
F.13 04-2010 3.9 MB sp50052.exe Moddable

To try and see if there are Moddable (theorically until 12-2011 are Moddable)
Then i prefer start from older one, but in this case F.28 is good !
Let me know

OK, BIOS reverted to F.28

First tool failed, as it's an AMD system.
Second tool backup attached.
AIDA64 Report attached.

Any update?

I've attempted to swap the UUID in the BIOS from the supported Atheros card (HP  605560-005) that I don't have, with what I believe to be the UUID for the Intel card I want to use.  I was able to save the BIOS and install them, but the card still isn't working.  Maybe I have the code wrong?
As far as I know the HEX for the Atheros is 8C 16 2B 00 3C 10 3F 30
And the Intel should be 86 80 B1 08 86 80 70 40, based on this.  https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intel_Dual_Ban..._(7260HMW)

I've been scouring through IDA Pro trying to disable the white list altogether, but I do not really know what I'm looking at.
I have an extensive IT background and some programming knowledge, but no assembly....this is driving me nuts.

Regards

If I swap the card at the Windows Safe Mode screen, The only device showing up in windows is the Bluetooth card, which has VID_8087&PID_07DC&REV_0001, there's no WiFi card listed at all.

I think I might have been using PhoenixTools wrong before, but I swapped the UUIDs again using what I believe to be the correct method, and still no luck.  I almost wonder if maybe the Bluetooth is tripping the 702, unsupported card now.
I also wonder if there's any merit to the taping of pins 20 and/or 51.
