Hi folks.

My wife is having a problem with her Compaq CQ61-310SA.

When it is powered on, all that we see is the Caps/Num lock flashing twice. Apparently this indicates a corrupt BIOS.

I have tried various BIOS downloads from HP and renamed them to all sorts of things but I am unsure if I am doing things correctly or if it just isnt working.

I have read that the .fd files are encrypted and that the files I need may be contained in this file but combined with other things.

My mother in law has exactly the same model of laptop and has no issues.

Does anyone know of a way I can dump the working BIOS to try and reflash my wife's corrupt one?

Any help with regard to this, or info on what files are needed for the "Windows key" / "B" combinationto work would be very very much appreciated.

The laptop reads the USB memory and beeps, but nothing is happening when it finishes. The USB drive light remains on and I still get the double blink of the keyboard lights.

Many thanks.

Sorry, I neglected to say that this is an "Insyde" BIOS. Other than the manufacturer, I know nothing else about the chip itself.
