Compaq 615 BIOS Recovery Issue
Model: Compaq 615 CPQ615URM
Specs: compaq-615-AMD-2-3ghz-2gb-320gb-hd3200-dvd-Win7Pro

MAN Website Link: Compaq 615 Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...nvOID=4060

Cause: Reset BIOS to Factory Default
Effect (Issue): At Power-Up,Power Light Turns ON, WIFI light Flashes Between Amber and Blue. Blank Unpowered Screen, No POST, External Screen Blank with No signal. No recognition of USB Drive.

Attempts:
1. Removed CMOS Battery: Requires Complete dis-assembly of Laptop. Result: No Change.

2. Downloaded BIOS (ver. F20) Extracted .bin file, placed on 512MB Fat16 USB Drive, Tried WinKey+B before AC power (no main battery) Then Pressed Power Key
Result:Different, Power Light On, WIFI light Solid Blue, Brief 4 second light on USB drive. CAPS LOCK Light now Flashes constantly
No other change.

3. Found Russian link to create USB bootable BIOS install for this model where BIN is named for laptops with 68GVV Family ROM (i.e. 68GVV.bin)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...ob-74588-1
Used old version of BIOS .BIN from link plus new by itself and with other files added when making Bootable USB.
Result: No Change from 2.

Additional Query: From what I've read, Compaqs should beep when BIOS starts to restore from USB, and beep until finished. I've heard no beeps (Also checked speaker connections). I'm wondering if Constant flashing CAPS-LOCK when WinKey+B has some meaning that I've not yet found.

I've have tried different RAM, and will get correct error of 3 Flashing CAPS-LOCK if no RAM is installed.

I'd appreciate any further insight. Thanks in Advance. Smile
