I would like to check for a possibility to mod my P5WDG2 WS Pro's last BIOS v905 - ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775...O-0905.zip , to add support for a 12 MB L2 cache QX9650 CPU.

On CPU-Upgrade website, they claim this mobo's last BIOS v905 to support an even newer QX9770 - http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/P5WDG...ional.html
although the ASUS official website does not include anything higher than QX6850 for this socket LGA775 mobo http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx

Station-Drivers website has a modded v1001 BIOS for this mobo - http://hostesseria.com/files/1001.RAR that include support for two additional Core 2 Quad CPUs (Q9550 & Q9650) - http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asus...ws-pro.htm

An ASUS motherboard that does support the QX9650, is P5W DH Deluxe, latest BIOS v3001 - ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socket...e-3001.zip

Any help would be appreciated here,

Max
Hi Max

Ive looked at the modded v1001 BIOS and it contained 37 microcodes. I extracted them all then compared to the 0905 bios for your board which contained 36 microcodes. Ive added the extra microcode from the modded v1001 and put it in your 0905 bios.

Flash at your own risk!

Hello,

First of all, thank you for the quick reply and action !

If I understood correctly, you took the extra microcode from the modded v1001 and added it to the original ASUS v905 - meaning the extra code is probably either for a Core 2 Quad Q9550 or a Q9650 (as mentioned at Station-Drivers web page), not for a Core 2 Extreme QX9650 ?

Best wishes,

Max
1234s282,

Also include the microcode entries from the ASUS v3001 using MBU.

Right il add the v3001 microcodes into the 0905 bios too Smile

there was 1 more microcode , the download link above now contains bios 0905 with 38 microcodes Smile

Thanks 1234s282 - it's all well appreciated =)

Is there some sort of a BIOS emulator that would load the BIOS file and let me see the menus as if I was entering it during boot time ?

Max
Hi Max

Any help would be appreciated here,

Hi maze,

Can you please post the latest BIOS for this board again so I have the correct version. I am trying to see if the E0 stepping is already in the BIOS or not.
