I want to upgrade from a i7 930 to a X5660. (6 core, higher QPI speed, and faster link to memory controler)
When I installed it the computer failed to post, but no beep codes.

I looked for a gigabyte motherboard that has support for the x5660 but the closest I found was support for the x5560 (the rev 2 of the board, I have contacted gigabyte to see if they'll help but I doubt it)

Currently I'm running a i7 930
oddly the 930 has a higher TDP than the x5660 so I don't think power will be an issue

spec code Q3UX (I think that's it)

I think that's all the info that the FAQ on this site said to post
attached is a screenshot of CPU-Z of the i7-930
if one is needed of the x5660 I might be able to put the x5660 in a computer at work to get eh info but that'll take some time.
Well gigabyte said the rev 1 board has hardware limitations preventing it from even supporting the x5560 and haven't commented on if the rev 2 can support the x5660 or not

Though the rev 1 board supports the i7 990x which is also a 12 core with basically the same specs just is a i7 vs xeon.

as for a board with x5660 support

Thanks in advance, please let me know if there's any more info needed.
Is this possible?
would someone be able to do it for a price?
