I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!
I only registered to the forum for that.
I've been struggling with my work machine because I needed to enable Virtualization support in the BIOS, and the stupid IT Admin lost the BIOS password.
The machine only boots from hard drive so I had to borrow a hard drive from a portable one (SATA+USB adapter), made it bootable with unetbootin+freeDOS, and restored your image. It worked flawlessly.
Just don't be scared if after the first reboot the machine complains about not having the system data in the BIOS, you have to boot AGAIN with the USB and execute SHOTGUN again. I almost freaked out!
Thanks.

Hi all
I just bought a used HP laptop - but sadly it's protected with BIOS Password. I can boot from USB (Yes! That's OK), but i'm normal a Linux person, and need so make a few changes in BIOS to get this to work as expected.
Can anyone here help me with remove the BIOS password for:
HP 820 G1
I can find a lot of pages by Google around, but i can't see whether i can trust the pages, or not - and due to good help from this a few year ago, i'll ask here

....So! I tried to make a few bumps, but all of them looks different to me - if i compare them. I used the CH341A Programmer as i normally do, to do the read. It can't find the chip by defection, so i selected it (25\26 SPI FLASH, WINBOND, W25Q128FV).
All of them is dumped below - Is the dumps OK, or? If i open it up in a Hex-editor, almost nothing is readable.

I also tried to correct the cable, if anything should have a loose connection - but it gave me almost the same result.
Is there problems with my chip, or? The laptop can poower on just fine :-)
Kindly let me know if you need anything. I really hope that someone can help me out.
