It's an HW ntel Protection lock not Bypassable (actualy implementd in ME Firmware) !

Can the Celeron B820 be upgraded at all, or is it locked to that chip?
What the best CPU the bios will allow? I have a C850-14D with the same bios.

physically it can be replaced. the issue is that it only works for 29:40 seconds at a time

I've just spent hours trying to figure out how to mod this EXACT same bios myself, all the while keeping a tab of bios-mods.com/forums open in case I would fail.
In the end I conclude my efforts and look to the forum, and there someone just posted the very request I was about to make.
Anyway, let me just recount what i discovered. I wanted to modify the bios as to make the fan NOT spin constantly when plugged-in (ac power).
So, my efforts revealed the this "setting" most likely can
not be unhidden in the bios. What I did was follow donovan6000's blog, using Andy's SLIC tool and Universal IFR Extractor I managed to get this:
C850-1G3-IFR.txt
Looking through that file is what made me com to the conclusion above. But perhaps I'm wrong, or perhaps there's another way (DSDT table?) Regardless, I've given up. This just is not something that I'm accustomed to doing.
Also, my model is C850-1G3, so not the same, but the bios seems to be the same (same file-name).
PS: I did find in the txt mention of some settings regarding cpu-fan threshold's (according to temperature).

But It seems there are no chances to rewrite into Eeprom Chip the Bios Mod !
