Hi guys,

I just received this laptop and found out some bad and worse news in a matter of minutes.

Bad news: Lenovo crippled it with a garbage wifi card. My previous laptop was 10 years old and it had a better card than this! lol (dual band)
Worse news: Lenovo are crooks and purposely lock-down the BIOS with a whitelist. (prior to today, I did not even know this existed!) (how can this be legal?)

That said, a quick google search lead me to you guys here. I was wondering if someone can help me unlock this laptop so that I can replace its Wifi card?

I literally just learned about this bios modding a few minutes ago, so I am also not quite sure what's really involved and the complexity of the job at hand. I am very familiar with command line, but I've never had the need for something like this before.

I haven't purchased anything yet, but I would like to install a dual band card with AC speeds to match my modem. (if someone has a good recommendation of such a card, I'd greatly appreciate it!)

Attached is a pic with bios details. Do I need to provide any further information? I would gladly donate if this task can be completed.

Don't know if this is essential, but my laptop currently has a dual boot set-up (Linux Mint and Windows 10) using UEFI boot mode.

Regards,
Hello!
I have two news for you!
Good new:your bios if fully moddable, you can install any adapter.
Bad new:your bios chip is rewrite protected, you need SPI PGM+Pomona SOIC8 clips.
Set your laptop to suspended mode and wake up it after few seconds.
Then run this tool as admin and upload results

Note. This tool not works under win10 shell.
