sovem! You're absolutely right! I didn't look close enough the first time.

Windows 7 Dell OEM wasn't automatically activating, which I then just assumed the machine was not SLIC 2.1. After you pointed it out, I began an epic journey of Microsoft updates, bios updates, threatening and yelling at Windows, and repeated attempts along the way at "Activate Windows now".

Eventually, I tried a "SLMGR -REARM", and that got Windows to activate. ...Windows was having a complex version of [censored]-cranial inversion.
