Hi all,
I'm very new in this bios mod thing.
I want to drop some question.

Ok I have an Asus G51vx with broken VGA card. It cant turned on but there are some weird characters on the screen. So I assume the VGA card is broken.

So I replace the VGA card with another one. The old card is GTX 260m and the new card is nVidia 9800m GS. I got the new card from similiar asus notebook (G50), it have the same board shape and socket. I manage to turn on the computer and do a clean windows install.

It looks good until I install the drivers for the VGA. I can't install the drivers, even i got it from nvidia website. Now here come my question :

Do i need modified bios when replacing VGA card???
Is it any whitelist thing on the bios for VGA card just like wifi card?

If someone know more info about this, please send me a link Big Grin
And last one, I hope I post this on the right section of the forum.

That is all for now,
Thanks in advance Smile
VGA card have their bios which sometimes prevents using same card in different type of laptop.
I suggest you revive your old card. Smile Probably some of memory chip is little bit lost connection with board.
Use some air gun or IR solder to heat it up. Graphic processor as well. Pay attention on temperature. It should bi between 200-220 C.
It will work. Wink
