Hi guys,
Was wondering what the likelihood is of anyone being able to mod the M2NPV-VM bios to support PhenomII processors. Here's some links to the bios & also to a similar (nforce430) gigabyte board w/ PhenomII support:
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=HGTVnGv5nGahCYgK&content=download
http://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock...e/1701.zip
I tried extracting the GV3 AGESA module from the donor bios and including it in the Asus one with CBROM32 1.49 but the result is a corrupt bios (no modules can be seen). Also I do not know how to extract the Microcode modules. Below is the result of my dodgy attempt.
Code:

Any assistance appreciated, i'd like to throw a 4 core in this board.
TheWiz , is the person your after , but he's a bit busy at the moment with school work etc
I cannot help with CPU Upgrades , Sorry!

Thanks. Hope he sees this.
I got further with Award Bios Editor 1.0, and have the AGESA module updated. Now just need to do Microcode.

Can anyone help me with the Microcode section? I have tried 3 or 4 new bioses, not one have a "normal" microcode module that ABE or CBROM can extract -- they show up as (SP) instead (note above that the ASUS bios has it as a normal module under #2):

OK, I managed to get NCPUCODE.BIN from the M2N donor bios. The format is identical to CPUCODE.BIN just larger contents (8*2KB instead of 4*2KB). So now I have AGESA & Microcode from m2n bios. Is this OK?

For all i know , all thats needed is the Microcode and the AGESA from a supported bios. However , I think the ACPITBL.BIN comes into it aswell

Yes, I have returned. Good stuff you've posted. I have replaced your AGESA and Microcode with the latest version, as well as MEMINIT. CBROm reports a lot of new Microcode, but unfortuantly I had to drop your splash logo in order to fit it all in.

This may or may not solve your CPU issue. If it doesn't we may have to do the risky mod and replace your power tables with the ones from the Gigabyte.

Thanks for the reply! Once I confirm I have another socketed mobo to hotflash with, I will try this bios.
Cheers,
Jason
@TheWiz
I'm excited about getting phenom II support for this mobo as well.
Though it makes me afraid of messing the system up as I'm totally new to bios modding.
...comparing on cbrom the original 1401 with the one you posted (1701), there is no rom for the onboard GPU in it, probably due to space restriction (and as the M2N-SLI Deluxe has no onboard gpu).
so I ask, would the modded bios post at least, making me able to reflash the 1401 back up in case it doesn't work? or the hot flash would be the only possibility in case of crash?
Thanks in advance.
Yeah i this case, hotflash is all you got. Also, the original bios does not have the correct calls to support phenom II, so I will be creating a new test version of the M2N-SLI

@TheWiz
Hi, I also have a M2N-Sli deluxe motherboard. Now im currently running a 955 Black Edtion nicely at 3.6Ghz but i have to force the multiplier using nvidia system tools cpu profiles. Even in the bios it says the correct core speed but it is locked at x4 and 0.9v. Now i disabled CnQ and C1E but still makes no difference. Now i can just up the voltage manually in bios to use like i do now but really i want it auto. Also it says "AMD processor unknown" in bios and in windows. I tried using awdbedit from borg number ones tools to look though and see if i could at least force the cpu to say the right name by renaming the error text. Then if i could understand why it defaults to 4x and then force that in the bios we would be sorted. Even if we had to bang out different revisions of the bios for different chips it would be excellent. Also with the X6 coming in april it would be nice to know we could have them sorted too if needs be. Especially by the time the C3 X6 3.2Ghz 95W comes around. Oh and also thanks to nvidia not allowing nvidia system tools to be run on an nvidia motherboard unless you have an nvidia gpu installed means that ati card users cant force their multipliers and are stuck either downgrading to a 940 or putting in an nvidia card.
Anyhoo if you could shed some light on this it would be great. Why does it default to x4 0.9v ?
Thanks
