Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source

Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire on my desk that has a 2.0 SLIC table in the BIOS and not a 2.1. Any chance of getting a 2.1 with an HP or Acer SLIC?

Above is the link to v1.08, but the laptop ships with v1.10 on it, which seems a little odd to me, but Acers are odd (to me).

I have attached a screenshot of the BIOS screen, it appears to be a Phoenix BIOS.

If was to try and keep v1.10 any chance of dumping out the 1.10 BIOS, posting it and then getting the platform data from v1.08? Just a thought.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well i can tell you theres NO safe way of backing up a Phoenix bios , so thats out the question

However , I Did find v1.10 , its on teh Acer Europe site and it says its for the 5735 (Not the Z) but it should be alright if you have v1.10 already!

And a copy With Acer 2.1 SLIC

Here you go , i used Acer 2.1 SLIC + Certificate Included:-

1. Copy and paste ******.XRM-MS certificate file into C-Drive.

2. After pasting this file into C-Drive, go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - COMMAND PROMPT. Right click on Command Prompt and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

3. When Command Prompt opens, type at the prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\********.xrm-ms and hit the Enter Button. Wait for the Script Host to answer you with a message that the license was installed successfully....this could take a few minutes and so be patient.

4. After receiving the message that the license was installed successfully, type at the command prompt:

slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** (Replace with any OEM SLP Product Key for your installed version of Windows 7 , they are not hard to find).Be Patient and wait for the message to say that the Product Key was sucessfully installed. After it says successfully installed, reboot the computer.

5. When you are back at your desktop, go to START - COMPUTER - right click on Computer and choose PROPERTIES and see if it is activated with an OEM product ID.

Cool, will keep you posted.

I can confirm that this fix has worked. Flashing the BIOS ended up being a slight challenge having to create custom boot disks and then using an USB/Syslinux/Memdisk solution to boot to a 5.5mb FDD image to update the bios.

Once the BIOS was flashed and OS disc created with the right certificate, we were away laughing....
