Bios Mods - The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source

Long time ago since the last reply.
I am really interested in this BIOS mod to activate AHCI but all the links in this thread are no longer available.

I have a VAIO laptop using the very same BIOS version (R0290Q2).
Unfortunatelly, my laptop does not support UEFI and this is the only way to activate it.

Hello all,

On the meantime I was investigating by myself and I confirm to all of you that those chages are NOT enough.

Despite all these changes make sense, as now we are calling to the subrutine 1A8C (which contains information about Thermals, CPU, and some other advanced features) the Power menu is still not available.
On the other hand, the AHCI option (which is the one I was looking for) does not appear under this menu.


In order to make appear JUST the AHCI option, it is necessary to change the following:
D72D: 27 02 to 28 02 true to false
in that case there was a harcoded "true" value that was suppressing this option.

Nothing else is required as this bios is not signed and does not contain RSA protection.

I'll continue checking how to enable the Power menu after reinstalling my laptop.
Any assessment to save time will be appreciated
