Hello
I am new for these kind of things, but willing to learn.
I bought Xeon L5320 LGA 771 and tried to install it to ASUS P5K-VM rev 1.02G motherboard, with adapter of course. Everything went well, except BIOS says there is no support for CPU. And it wont boot to windows (Win7 64bit). I´m not sure should it boot if there is no CPU support?
I tried to modify BIOS by MMTool and added some xeon microcodes from http://www.overclock.net/t/1431723/mod-l...-xeon-cpus, but it didn´t help. Possibly there was no right microcode?
So if someone could direct me to right microcodes, then i might be able to update BIOS. Of course if someone would be so nice to make mod to me, then i would be very grateful Smile

[HELP] Add Xeon MicroCode to ASUS P5K-VM

can someone inject Xeon MicroCode to ASUS P5K-VM bios?

will a xeon 5450 lga 771 work in this motherboard?
The G33 chipset on this mobo will very likely support the 51-54xx range of Xeons.
However, the X5450 drains up to 120W of power (see its TDP spec at http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/Intel...450A).html). I'm not certain that your mobo provides for that.
If you like, I can mod the BIOS (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock...S-1001.zip) of it for you.

Mine (p5k-vm) will work fine with a L5240 dual core 6MB XEON at 1333 FSB.
However I couldn't get it to post with a L5320 Quad core even with microcode patches.
Update: I had an FSB Pin MOD done on the L5320 which caused the problem! removing the pin mod got it to boot and it will clock to 1333 FSB easily via the BIOS settings.
Hello,

Would it be possible for you to post a BIOS that also includes the CPU codes for the X5450?
Thank you very much!
genius239 already done this. Try this version.
