How can you tell if a BIOS is good and use-able or bad and won't flash right; leaving your computer dead? Or is there no way to even test that?

EDIT: On second thought, I just wanted to know if this would be a BIOS that I can flash to my computer. The current BIOS I have is awdbios.bin and... I have a NARRA5 mobo from Pegatron. When I boot up my comp it shows PhoenixAwards BIOS v5.38. I really wanted to put on this new BIOS, but I didn't want it to already be corrupted when I flash it. And I also didn't know what I needed to include in this rar so I just added like all the files that were created when I made and got this BIOS.
Well, a couple things to go over.

Fifrst off you should really only want to flash your BIOS if you get something out of it. There is no point in upgrading your BIOS if everything runs fine. Also, where did you get this file from. Pegatron support, etc. It would be best if you could post a link.

It runs fine, I just wanted to see what I could do with the shown, but disabled options. I was hoping to get even the slightest overclock on my computer, but the BIOS was locked. If you don't recommend even the slightest modification to my BIOS, then please let me know as soon as you can so I don't destroy my computer. But I just backed up a copy of my bios. Somehow the size of it sort of fools me though because I thought it would be a lot bigger than that. I have looked for an update for my bios, but I haven't found one yet. Nothing at Phoenix Tech, and I have no idea where to look for it at the Pegatron website. If you, or anyone else could point me in the direction of where I might be able to get an update, all I have is the main pages for Pegatron and Phoenix.

http://www.pegatroncorp.com/index.php (If this is even the right company o.o)

http://www.phoenix.com/front-page (Again, if this is even the Phoenix I'm looking for but I'm pretty sure it is.)

I think Phoenix might have it, but I saw something like FreeBiosScan and
1) That seemed a bit phony, but then again it shouldn't be right?
2) Am I going to have to buy a BIOS update? Because if that's it then I might be able to do that too I just wanted to find the simplest unlockable feature in my BIOS to overclock my cpu and I haven't found any way to do that but by being in the BIOS

P.S. If there's anything else you need to know about my computer or anything and CPUID CPU-Z can show me, please tell me how to forward the info that CPU-Z gives because I've seen it done, but I haven't a clue as to how to do that either. It's probably a simple thing to do, but I'm really stupid sometimes and I don't think.
Well, Why don't you use this tool. It will make a copy of the current BIOS you are using and I will check t see if there re any hidden options. Make sure to disable your anti-virus for this, because it accesses user mapped memory (not harmful)

Alright. Here it is. I hope this isn't one of the BIOS's that hasn't been semi-cracked at least yet.

That's quite alright. I somehow thought that this BIOS was going to be a bum anyway lol. Just my luck haha. Well thanks for trying anyway I really appreciate it and I would really hope somebody would be able to find that "Official Link" to either an update or something I might find useful. So thank you and I bid you a short farewell as I will return later hopefully with some money just to give because I feel like it, but that's if I even have pocket cash. With the way things are these days, phew, money is very tight for people like me :/
Ah this is one of those HP OEM bioses Big Grin - We have progress! Smile

See Here - http://h10061.www1.hp.com/ccsearch/searc...y=M2N68-LA

Unfortunately though , this bios has nothing of use thats hidden , only 1 or 2 settings that arent even worth risking a bios flash for! Sad

Really sorry about that but not all bioses have everything hidden , sometiems things are completely removed or not put in in the first place!

Does it give out the options for overclocking though? Or does it have all that removed?
