Hello,

I know this is an old thread, but did anybody has experience with this bios mod?

I have a Veriton L460 and just soldered the 2nd sata port onto the motherboard which is described in the service manual for the L460 /L3600. The solder contacts were there, just no SATA port.

On bootup I see all 4 (S)ATA links, in the bios I see them as well (see screenshots). But only the harddrive on (S)ATA 1 and the (P)ATA 4 CD drive is recognized. The messages are:

...
ata_piix 0000:00:1f.1: version 2.13
scsi host0: ata_piix
scsi host1: ata_piix
ata1: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0x1f0 ctl 0x3f6 bmdma 0xffa0 irq 14
ata2: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 bmdma 0xffa8 irq 15
ata_piix 0000:00:1f:2: MAP [ P0 P2 P1 P3 ]
scsi host2: ata_piix
scsi host3: ata_piix
ata3: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xd080 ctl 0xd000 bmdma 0xc800 irq 19
ata4: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0xcc00 ctl 0xc880 bmdma 0xc808 irq 19
libphy: Fixed MDIO Bus: probed
....

However the chipset is using IDE mode. I was wondering if this bios mod could help me getting the 2nd SATA port working? or is it just that the board doesn't have the circuit for the 2nd SATA. How could I recognize that?

What could it mean that in the BIOS there are only 2 channels: primary and third, both having master/slave.

thanks!
Tim

I can partly answer my own question:

I dared to flash the modded bios included in this thread and everything went well (I downgraded to the official R01-B1 before to make sure)

Now I have a lot more options in the BIOS but still no second SATA device. So it seems it's the circuit which is not completely connected.

At least I can contribute the pinout of the SATA5PCN1 solder points (left to right):

1: not connected
2: GND
3: 5V
4: 5V
5: GND

if anybody has any more information about the empty SATA solder points, would be great to add this info here!
