hello!

my biosflash went wrong and now i get nothing when i boot, just a black screen and a running computer...
ive looked up some information left and right but as of yet am still unable to recover the bios.

so far, ive gotten in bios recovery (hold win+B at startup). but it gives me one or two beeps according to the format ive used to format the usb with. (fat vs fat32). when i remove the usb the beeping stops...

im using a HP Pavilion DV7-1040ew

Bios Page:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...63&sw_lang=

The phoenixtool said i had to rename the bios file to f3.bin but the beeping continued.... so im at quite a loss right now..... not even sure which one of the three bios files (in the latest bios update) to use...

im assuming its an insyde bios, since the files are ending in fd.

any help is greatly appreciated,

thanks!

Hi friend,
there are three bioses !!!

30F3F2D.FD Recovery Name F3.bin
30F4F2D0.FD Recovery Name F4.bin
30F4F2D1.FD Recovery Name F4.bin

Which one You used and in which way ?

Look here to Donovan6k :

PMTool to get Bios Recovery Name is good as your Bios is not RSA Signed !!!
So You need only a USB Fat32 Formatted Stick.

let me know

Hello!

Thank you very much for taking the time to help!!

I was trying to flash a custom bios, insydeflash called it f.2D 30f3, the version installed was f.2d 30f4.

Ive used the first of those three with a fat32 formatted usb called HP_Tools.

Then it gives me three beeps (File Missing) when i add the second one it gives me four beeps (md5 checksum failed)

Ive added them with their own name (xxxx.fd, and as f3.bin and F4.bin... Im not quite sure how to use the three files on the usb... Seeing as the two last ones both need F4.bin...

Thanks in advance!

P.s.: sorry for long time answer, im at work now...
using the method in donovans post, the laptop now produces six beeps...

im at a loss here....HuhHuh

Edit: renaming files causes it to produce 5 or even 7 beeps....

edit: edit: what i did to produce the 6 beeps is format the USB as HP_TOOLS with fat32 and copied all files over from what the spxxxxx file gives me...
slightly different from what donovans post says...
