Hi,

I am new here on this site, and have absolutely no experience with BIOS modifications. I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6b41ed, and I want the whitelist to be removed from the BIOS (Insyde) because I want to install the Atheros AR9285. I have already tried placing a WiFi chip in my laptop which is not listed in the service manual, and it gives me an error, and I can't boot. Is there anyone who can do this for me? And what are the risks? How big is the chance that I can brick my laptop?

Here is a link to the BIOS: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...b-115758-1&cc=nl&dlc=nl&lc=nl&os=4132&product=5191481&sw_lang=

Thanks,

Kevin

How can I verify if this works for my laptop? I really don't want to brick it, also because I have no idea on how to recover my laptop if this goes wrong...
Thanks!
Here's all the bios released for your laptop. The lastest one that is moddable is F.02, which is sp54846. So the file BDMaster linked to will work for your laptop Cool

And incase it bricks, which is very rare but can happen, here's a tutorial on how to recover.
sorry to bring up an old thread. I just got a used HP DV6-6C14NR would this be the best unlocked bios to run on this laptop? I want to install the intel 6230 on it? If something else is recommended I would appreciate any advice.
Hi. It's been a while since I flashed this bios on my HP, and I have an MSi GS60 nowadays. But nevertheless, I think this bios should work on your dv6 too. It works really well. Never had any problems with it. But always remember to have a recovery USB around in case things go wrong. It's a very small chance, but it can happen.
Hey Kevin thanks for the quick reply. I will set up a USB recovery and buy do you know which file to use on this laptop for the recovery? There are a numer of them that I can find and I want to make sure I grab the right one
Well I am have trouble, I open insydeflash it opens loads up the bios reboots the computer and when it goes to try to flash it says flash failed reboots and goes back to Windows. I must be doing something wrong.
the files are offline, can i please get the file?

really would like to unlock my dv6-6b41ed
Hello there, I have tried to change the wifi card of our dv6-6b41ed laptop to a Intel 7620AC one. But all the whitelist bios I can find don't have the bluetooth whitelisted.
There seems to be one that works but all links to these files are offline or restricted. Is here anyone that has this bios (SP54846) and wants to share it?

Best regards  Maurice
