I have this notebook from Novatech, wich is the same Medion Erazer x6815 here on NotebookCheck.net
I had updated its bios to version 209 from a file I had found on russian forums (I can't find it anymore), but now my dedicated vga is getting "not enough free resources" error on windows. Maybe this file was for a notebook without the dedicated card?

Can't find a bios image in Novatech's site. Found an a25 bios version 207, but WinFlash won't let me install a file older then the actual one. Tried running with "/nodate" but it treats its arguments as a path to file and gives error "file not found: /nodate".
Found bios for Medion, but it has a different model name (image attached).
So, what I want is some help/advise as how to modify model in that Medion bios file to install it in my laptop. Or a modified version.
I'm not really concerned about cosmetic things as the splash screen or model names as long as this laptop works again.

Sorry for bad english, and thanks for reading!

Edit:
Found this: http://vlab.su/viewtopic.php?f=252&t=11743&start=40, but I can't download the file, can someone get it for me?
So, after some time I found out how to open the Bios files with AMIBCP v4.53 and edit DMI strings for the model name.
But now I'm getting Checksum error, and can't flash it. some help on this?

Hi Pietchaki,

I aswell use the same barebone, and I have an medion erazer x6815, the standard bios is bugging me I wish to update from version 207 to 209. I tried updating it using the pegatron instructions  ( http://pegatron.info/questions-and-ottvety-faq-.php ) , but afudos gave me the message that the bios is write protected. Did you encounter the same issue? Or did afudos proceed without any hickups? Could you explain to me what process you used? And I also have a dedicated graphics card (gt 555m), My cpu is a i7 2670qm, 4gb of ram, I have the realtek alc269 sound chip.

Furthermore. Do you also experience bad microphone quality with your laptop? And have you fixed your problem yet? I hope we can help each other with these problems.

thanks

Siebe
I used the force option in AFUDOS (/F) to bypass some restrictions, such as different model name, older than actual bios, etc. Maybe it can help you.
My dedicated card may have some hardware problem, I tried 6 bios files, all with same "not enough free resources" error.
My laptop's mic is terrible, it record me typing in keyboard louder than my voice, so I use a headphone now.

Thank you for the info, I'll try it out, hopefully it works. Could you also give me your full specs? cpu, dedicated gpu etc.

Also I find the battery quit insufficient for the i7, mine is a 10.4 volt 4400 mAh battery. I can get the same battery as an extra for 25 euros.

But there are also 14.4 volt 5200 mAh  batteries. It would be nice if I could use the 14.4 volt version (more power/longer batery life). But I don't think that my laptops transformer will survive.

The battery type names, I believe are: for the 10.4 volt (a32-a15) and for the 14.4 volt (a42-a15), which one do you have? Doyou know if I would fry my laptop if I were to get the 14.4 volt version.

And do you have a glossy or matte lcd?
I have an i7-2760QM, 8GB DD3-1600Mhz Corsair Vengeance (originally was Samsung's 8GB 1333Mhz), nVidia GT555M 2Gb, SSD 120GB Corsair Force 3 (moved the original Western Digital 500GB HD to the CD-ROM bay, using a homemade HD-ODD caddy) and I have a Glossy display.
My battery is an A42-A15, 14.4v 5200mAh, 74Wh. Novatech used a 6 cell battery pack while Medion used a 4 cell model. Anyway, after just 2 years, my laptop has only 30 minutes on battery, with 50% brightness and WI-fi on.
