I'd like to unlock some menus.

Basically, this laptop runs Windows 7 perfectly. Windows 8 and above it runs great except it will NOT recover after hibernation. Looking around online, this seems to be a problem with other laptops as well, but some of the fixes I am unable to do as they are not available on stock BIOS.

For example, someone was able to fix this problem by disabling Legacy USB Support. Others were able to fix it by messing around with the S1, S3, etc ACPI sleep settings.

I just want to give this a shot before I give up on 8.1 (and 10, which based on the tech previews so far, has the same exact problem) and just downgrade to 7.

Thanks in advance.
Hi friend!
I can to unlock some hidden options only but it is not for your request.BDMaster can do more.
If he don't you can change some options by booting from rescue usb.
How to prepare HP rescue USB read here https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...ery-by-USB
If you prepaired rescue USB let me know.
Notice.Perharps, your laptop is not fully compatible with win8 and above because your bios doesn't support UEFI mode.
Laptops produced in 2009 and younger have UEFI bios needed for win8.
Some OS are not compatible with laptops. For example, new laptops not supporting ACPI S1 so winXP installing will be failed.
Your BIOS is supporting ASPI S1 (it's old mode of power saving) and it has excluded for more compatibility with new OS.
Good Luck!

I add mod with unlocked options of System Configuration Tab.
You find ACPI selection there. Your version supporting between 1.0 and 3.0.It's not enough for fully compatibility with win8 power management. It's reguires 4.0 and above.May be it is primary reason why your laptop not recovering after hibernation.

Thanks for the assistance guys, but seems like nothing worked. At least I gave it a shot! I plan on installing Windows 8 because some report its an 8.1+ issue. If not, back to 7 I go!
FYI in case anybody has similar problem--I downgraded to Windows 8 and no longer have issues with Hibernation. Very strange.
