Hi there,
I would also like (!) a modded bios to use the QX9300, and I bet many people will use it once it works.
I am new to this, but here is what I already did:
1. Tested that the Intel QX9300 is sane - its working in an ITX Board
2. Verified that the Lenovo W500 does not support the QX9300 - power will switch off, and no boot process is initiated
3. Since the Lenovo W700 is shipped with QX9300 I compared the bioses:
Both systems are using 2 BIOS files. You can download it from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.w...MIGR-70353 - you can run the downloaded file safely, it will extract the content into C:\DRIVERS\FLASH - then do not continue the installation.
I did the same for the W700 BIOS.
Both bioses contain two big files named like
Then I used the Phoenix_Mod_Tool_1.42 on each file. For each file the a folder named DUMP is created. I simply renamed the folder after one file was processed.
The comparison of the contents showed that the $01BB000.FL1 file contains one module more than the $01B8300.FL1:
BIOSCOD09.ROM
I attached it so maybe you can state whether its content is related to the QX9300!?!?
If yes then one of these steps should succeed:
a) Use a tool and recreate the BIOS from the many single files (from the DUMP)
b) locate an unused BIOSCOD0x.ROM inside of $01B8300.FL1 (all but BIOSCOD05.ROM will do, if those are not needed) , patch the BIOSCOD09.ROM into that location and fix all checksums (HOW?)
c) dunno ?
Maybe you this info helps you to create the modded BIOS or at least you can say something useful about BIOSCOD09.ROM (see attachments).

EDIT: fixed some typos.

Hi bebbo,
Thank you for your donation and through approach to trying to solve thiss. Since the OP I have been doing much more with the Phoenix platform and will be more than happy to give this a second look around. It may take several days for me to find anything conclusive because there are some things that I want to check out first, but this is surely a really good step forward.
Thanks and welcome,
TheWiz
