Hi gents.

I am the owner of an Acer Aspire One A110, which has an Intel Atom N270 CPU and came originally with Puppy Linux. After upgrading the memory (to 1.5Gb) and the SSD (to a mSata 60Gb) I already used it with Windows 7.

With the j-bios tool (http://www.jakobheinemann.de/j-bios.html) I was able to unlock the hidden forms Advanced and Power in the Insyde H20 bios. The bad thing only was that the option "Use NX capability" was disabled by default and grayed out, so I couldn't change its value.

But with the help of the information on donovan6000's Blog and its tool (http://donovan6000.blogspot.nl/2014/02/u...actor.html) I was able to get the option working and set the NX-bit to enabled!

Find attached the new, unlocked and NX-bit enabled bios!!!
Some pics (I couldn't figure out how to include a pic from my OneDrive):

With this modded bios I should be able to reserve my copy of Windows 10... Big Grin

Here are some screenshots of my system (in Dutch) after flashing the modded bios to proove that it really works!

In a subsequent post in this thread I will explain in detail how I did it.

Happy modding!

Hi Iedjee,

Thanks a million for the unlocked bios, works well
But I am still with the problem that you can only change time and date!!!!
The F5 and F6 and Enter keys do not respond to any other settings.
Have you heard of this before. I have googled this problem but no answers yet

Hi Mike

Do you mean that all other options are visible but grayed out? That would be strange... Can you take a picture of it?
Have you tried restoring to Bios-defaults (F9)? And are you sure there is no supervisor/administrator password on your Bios?

You are actually the first one to respond to my post, so i have no other feedback, neither good nor bad... I can only see that the modded Bios had been downloaded several times, but that doesn't mean anything...

I hope to hear from you and maybe i can help you...

I upgraded to Windows 10 and it works fine, better (faster) than Windows 7. Of course the performance is what to expect from this netbook, but it is reasonable to do the basic things on it.
Will this bios work on Acer Aspire One ZG5 also? It has Atom N270, RAM upgraded to 1.5G and original 160 GB HD still in place. Excited to try it.

As far as I know, the ZG5 that is printed on the label at the backside is more like the formfactor of the netbook. Several Acer netbooks have been issued in this case.

You should look in your BIOS, at the first page there is "Product name": it should say AOA110 or AOA150. Take a look at my first picture as well, there it states AOA110. So if you have either one of them, you are good to go.

It works! Thanks very much for your hard work in getting the BIOS NX enabled!
Hi, then the bios attached is already edited and ready to flash? If you like I can flash? I currently have Windows 10 installed on the machine.
Thanks a lot.
If i install this bios, will i able to change video-memory?
Hi Iedjee, I was looking for this!
Anyway, I've tried Win 10 in my AOA110 with bios 3310 original, and always get windows freeze.
After I downgrade to bios 3309 original, never had that freeze problem again.

I wonder if your patch could solve this as weel, as now I'm upgrading pci wifi card to Intel Centrino Wireless N 1030, but the bluetooth adapter is not working, always get "USB unknown" and keep on-off like not having enough power (I suspect the USB host setting for pci-e socket)
