With my Raspberry Pi I used a tool called flashrom. In combination with a soic8 clip, it can identify your bios chip automatically and flash images to it.

Pardon my request,
I'd like to unlock E5-551G Laptop BIOS so I could control the advanced options more comprehensively.

Manufacturer: Acer
Model: Aspire E5-551G
BIOS version: 1.15 (1/19/2016)
Download Link: BIOS

Are there any risks, pros & cons after flashing the unlocked BIOS, like locked discrete graphics setting, or something else?

I also want to know how to input the unlocked BIOS into the laptop.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately your laptop havent Intel cpu so we cannot use Intel FPT to detect your bios chip and test it for read/write permissions.
Tool from link is last chance to get bios image without programmer.
However, you may need programmer to flash bios mod back.
One bad thing:we dont know what is name of bios chip, so you must find it yourself.
Read thread with user Clemax, he have Acer E5 model with intel Cpu, he was successfully flashed mod using programmer and got unlocked options.
Do you want to continue?

Okay i run the program and upload result: https://www.sendspace.com/file/ryj01a

I put other reports if need it

Expecting answer.

Thanks.
The BIOS doesn't show advanced settings so AMD-V can't be used even if the processor (A10-7300) has capabilities, could some one help me to mod the BIOS to be able to activate virtualization?

I'm Using this BIOS version: http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...ER&SC=PA_2

Sad
First off, hello and thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to help me. I have been trying for days to get my laptop to not underclock below base clock when under load and i have been unsuccesful, not even modding the cooling has worked.

So i'd really appreciate it if someone could unlock my BIOS so i can access power management and overclocking options... i'd really like to disable thermal throttling if possible.

He'res the link to a dump of my BIOS, with BIOS Backup ToolKit V2.0: https://mega.nz/#!9vpHxY4R!itevau3fx8Lp7...RP4OXVSphM

I've attached it as well. If you require any further information or data please let me know, i'll cooperate in any way i can.

Many thanks again.
Thank you Dudu2002, i really appreciate your help. Unfortunately, it appears that in order to flash my laptop with a modded BIOS you need physical access to the BIOS chip itself, with one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Signstek-SOIC8-So...B00V9QNAC4

Posting so if anyone has this same laptop and searches for a BIOS in the future, he/she can read this.

PS: I don't have bitcoins but since you accept crypto as a donation i'd hapily send some Reddcoins your way (www.reddcoin.com). Just give me an address.

Cheers.

EDIT: Coins sent, thanks again.
Just to add, in case anyone still wants to keep trying without the aforementioned tools, that you can indeed try and force the flash using a fairly simple method i found thanks to trial and error.

All you have to do is to execute the Insyde Flash utility and try to flash an "invalid" image (e.g. an older version). When it reports an error DON'T close the utility yet; instead go to "C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp" and search for the randomly named folder that contains "H2OFFT-Wx64.exe", the flasher itself. Inside it you will find a file named "isflash.bin" that wasn't there before, when unpacking the flasher. That's the BIOS to be flashed. Now, all you have to do is to rename your modded BIOS to "isflash.bin" and put it in that folder, replacing the original one. Run the flasher and it will do it's thing, no errors. It will reboot the machine. But chances are very high that you'll be greeted with the following upon restart:

InsydeH2O - Secure Flash
Error : Invalid firmware image!
Press any key to reset system...

The system will load the previous BIOS, no harm done. No success either, but if you're not willing to give up just yet you can use this as a last resort when all else has failed.

Cheers.
