Hi. I'm new to this forum but I'm glad I found it.

I have a problem with my BIOS. Basically the main problem is that it is proprietary software. But I can't do anything about it for the time being.

It is an old Award BIOS version 4.51. And it has the large HDD problem. I tried to find a patched version but I don't think there is one. So I extracted the contents. It's 2 Mbit (256 kByte). The motherboard is a QDI ZillioX 5. With intel 440ZX.

What I'd like to know is: is there a patched version of this BIOS?

And in case there isn't (most likely) how can I extract the compressed parts? Can I use CBROM to extract and decompress? Is there some kind of low level information about the BIOS?
Awdbedit 1.0 did the job just fine. Now I'll try to find the problem by disassembling. Just thinking about it makes me dizzy. I hope OEMs and manufacturers will go to open source some day.
