Hi everybody,

could the mighty modders help me to remove wifi whitelist from thinkpad T520 BIOS?

here's what i have
Laptop: ThinkPad T520 (4239 CTO)
BIOS Utility Version: 8auj16us (11.35-1.19)
UEFI BIOS VERSION: 8AET55WW
Embedded Controller Version 8AHT37WW
BIOS download link: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj16us.exe
Existing card: Intel WIFI LINK 1000 with HW id 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0084&SUBSYS_13158086&REV_00'
Replacement WIFI card: Intel Centrino Advanced N 6230

Any help is appreciated.
Also, I'm kinda interested in modding. Could any of you let me know the kind of tools (extraction tools and etc.) used in removing whitelists??

Thanks~~

I wait your news Wink

Camiloml, you're awesome man. The BIOS works great with my new WIFI-bluetooth combo card.
But the only thing is that when i start up the computer, I get two five-short beeps. Is it what it's supposed to be??
It's normal behaviour of these patched bioses because of the loop of wifi card detection. Don't worry Wink

Hi Camiloml,

I've been researching and luckily came across this forum. I also have a T520 (4239 CTO) that I need to whitelist for an Intel Centrino N 6300. The T520 came with an Intel 6205, but that card is incompatible with the software we need to use, and the 6300 is apparently fully compatible.

Can I use the BIOS that you patched for the person in this forum thread, or do I need one specifically whitelisted for the Intel 6300 WiFi adapter?

Is there a fast easy-ish way to do it myself with any readily accessible downloadable tools?

System BIOS version is 8AET56WW (1.36) 12/6/11, SMBIOS version 2.6.
What other info would you need to "fix" this BIOS?

Thanks!

EDIT: [Is this mode compatible with all T520 models? My T520 is 4243 5UU.]

Update request for the latest BIOS with whitelist for WWAN cards.

Thank you

Is this BIOS compatible with T520i 4240-67G?

I understand it removes whitelist functionality, so every wifi card should work? Mine is this one:

It seems to me that the much better option is to modify wifi card's firmware inserting the whitelisted id. Anyone can help with that procedure maybe?

Thanks!!

This looks like what I need for my T520! However, my BIOS is later than this one, so the installer balks about back-reving.

I have T520 (4240)
Current BIOS (latest): http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj20us.exe

BIOS Rev: 8AET58WW (1.38), 7/5/2012

Would you have a way of updating that one (or, have you develped a tool yet that after each BIOS update will tickle the same bit/byte in the rev?).

TIA!
Latest is 1.39, and it can be found here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20430880/8auj20us.exe
Can someone please turnoff whitelist feature with this version?
some guy helped...
