Hi Bios-mods members,

I bought an Acer Aspire which has a T3000 Socket P and have bought a T9600 as an upgrade. Is there anyway to get this to work as, simply inserting it into the CPU socket achieves nothing?

What information do you need in order to help me?

I think your notebook doesn't support FSB=1066 Mhz. So you can't use T9600.
Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with native CPU.

Yes of course, how stupid not to notice that :S

Would a CPU with the same bus speed as the T3000 have a better compatibility, for instance this T9300?

Another problem might be that the original is an Intel Celeron and the T9300 is a Intel Core 2 Duo, what do you think?

Thank you for your advice.

Perhaps T9300 can boots in your laptop.
But I don't know the model of your laptop. So I need to see requested screenshots.

Thank you for your help so far Smile

Here are the requested screenshots of the CPU and Mainboard tabs from CPU-Z

Your BIOS (1.34) has needed microcode for T9300.

Is there a modded Phoenix BIOS that is supported by my motherboard AND has the T9300 mircocode?

Bit of a wild stab in the dark but worth asking Smile

You don't need any mod. Native BIOS (installed already) supports T9300.
Great Thank you for your time Big Grin

Just one more question:
I performed an intelmicrocodelist test on the stock 1.34 rom (JV50134.rom) and got this list...
Code:
CPUID=10671 Rev=106 2007/03/29 CRC=80731B2D Off=1F10E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=10674 Rev=405 2007/07/20 CRC=735D9FE0 Off=1F20E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=10676 Rev=60C 2008/01/19 CRC=FBAC0EED Off=1F30E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=1067A Rev=A07 2008/04/09 CRC=83067ECB Off=1F40E0 Size=2000 Plat=5,7
CPUID=6F9 Rev=83 2006/09/28 CRC=85B7E1DF Off=1F60E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=6FD Rev=A3 2007/08/13 CRC=89C0D01F Off=1F70E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
CPUID=6FA Rev=92 2007/03/13 CRC=13ED7841 Off=1F80E0 Size=1000 Plat=7
The Acer's stock CPU is the T3000 and I can clearly see it's CPUID in the list as 1067A. If I put in the T9300 (CPUID=010676h) will it run OK with the T3000's microcode or will there be limited functionality/missing instructions/voltages etc?

To be honest, I'm not really sure what the function of a microcode is  Confused

...but if you say it's OK then I'll buy the CPU upgrade!
