Hello guys,
I have an acer extensa 7630 ez with a very Strange MotherBoard called
Acer Monserrat2 (never see a post about this MB). This laptop runs with an Intel CPU Pentium T4300 (Penryn core). He is very slow so i would like to replace it by a Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T9500 (SLAYX):

The chipset of my MB is an intel GL40 and should support this processor (
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/...9/page-24) cause it's the same core (penryn), same bus speed 800 Mhz and same thermal design power (35 watts). So at first sight, no reason to have hardware compatibility problems but what about the bios?
The bios installed for my MB is a Phoenix one version 3821 (see in attachment). I am not sure this Bios can support this new cpu and acer gives absolutely no support about. Maybe i need to unlock something in the bios or to add the microcode of the new processor.
So my questions are:
1. Can i use the new cpu t9500 with this current bios? Thanks to acer, i have to disassembly nearly all my laptop to change the cpu. So i would like to be sure or at least very confident it ll work before this operation.
2. if i can't use the new cpu with the current bios, can you help me to modify my bios?

EZ. I doubt cause it's not the same chipset on both laptop. GM45 for 7630 and GL40 for 7630ez.

Your BIOS mod is complete! You can find the archive with the modified BIOS image at the bottom of this post.
I have unlocked the hidden INTEL Menu.
I successfully upgraded my notebook's CPU under the same conditions. In my case, however, my systems's FSB speed was 533MHz initially. After the upgrade, since the old CPU was the only bottleneck, the system FSB speed was raised to 667MHz. The BIOS will probably not be an issue, though I cannot give any guarantees.
Generic Warnings/Disclaimers:
