Update: I used phoenixtool263 on the BIOS and completed successful and flashed fine but no slic for activation in Win 7.

Update: I used phoenixtool263 on the BIOS and completed successful and flashed fine but no slic for activation in Win 7.
upgrade to official v.1.9 bios (7998v19), reboot, then try this tools https://www.sendspace.com/file/nr5rjp
Unpack and run MSI_A5.exe as Administrator (right mouse click --> as Administrator).
Reboot, enter into the BIOS, load Optimal Defaults, Save&Exit, boot to Windows and check SLIC.

Installed the new 7998v1A BIOS and the MSI_A5.exe patch worked great!

Is this MSI_A5.ext patch specific to Serg008's motherboard/bios? Can I use it with my Z170A SLI PLUS or will it change MAC address and other unique ids ?

It's a generic tool for MSI x170 series motherboard's bios.
Upgrade to the latest official bios, reboot, then try this tool

If it works, which SLIC will be enabled? i.e. what brand certificate should I use with it? Sorry if it is a stupid question. I did not find a FAQ/readme. I found one post that says you guys mostly use Asus SLIC, but not sure if it is applicable here.
