I bought a intel 7260 ac wireless card to replace my ralink 5390r. I managed to replace it and it actually worked, as i usually hibernate my pc, for some unknown reason the card worked until I restarted. The PC boots up well without any error on boot, but the problem is I can't no longer turn on my wifi and the wifi button on the keyboard does not toggle on/off.

Tried to install the previous card and hibernating, then changing the card but still no progress.

My PC info:
Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP ENVY m4-1115dx
BIOS type: Insyde F.18
SMBIOS Version: 2.7
BIOS Mode: Legacy
Bios link: http://whp-aus2.cold.extweb.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66921.exe

I am currently on legacy mode but don't mind re-installing windows into UEFI mode.

Would really appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance.
It's an Insyde BIOS that's over 5 GB and doesn't specifically whitelist.

The drivers install, the card just doesn't work. I checked with HP support who stated this is common and said "Just one level better than the BIOS rejecting the card altogether, but just as effective in preventing it from working".

I am able to get the card to work if I boot up, hibernate, and install the card. It will then work great until the next time I reboot at which time the BIOS seems to disable the WiFi and prevents it from being turned on.

See attachment for BIOS files directory listing and file sizes. The BIOS can be downloaded at

Any help to mod to allow disabling lock out of WiFi card appreciated.
