Hello!
I tryed to install this upgrade on my laptop and it wont boot, only got a blank scree when powered on.
So i thought that it might be a locked bios and searched for a solution and that brings me here to get help.
So if anyone can guide or help me to be able to upgrade my cpu i would apreciate it, it seamed a straight forward cpu change but ended up not being that after all.
As told, this Toshiba Satellite Pro S500 came with this cpu i3-330m and i bought a i5-520m.
Upgraded the bios from 1.60 to 3.50 but kept the same blank screen when using the i5 cpu.
The bios 3.50-WIN(EC_KBC2.10) came from here: http://www.support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...143706.zip

What should i do now?
This BIOS has support for your i5-520M.
Try this algorithm:
1) remove AC jack, Main Battery, and CMOS Battery
2) remove HDD and all DIMMs
3) install new CPU
4) wait 10 mins
5) press and hold power button for 30 sec.
6) install CMOS Battery and one DIMM only, inject AC jack (without Main Battery!)
7) try to boot your laptop.
Thank you! I'll try that procedure this weekend and will post here if it worked. I have PC3 8500 2x2GB sodimm's(800MHz). Do you think 1066MHz ddr3 sodimm will facilitate things?

I think so!
Hi there!
Tryed your algorithm and nothing changed even with PC3 12800 sodimm.
Actually i can add another detail to my problem, when powered from AC jack with the i5 cpu i get a green led for 5 secs and then it changes to orange flashing led, it seems to flash 7 times; or mabe 2nd, 7th and 8th flash being a little longer on. With this it won't power on, have to use my i3 cpu.
Seems i can quit my upgrade.
But thanks anyway!
I think your i5-520M is dead.

I think you may have run into the same problem as i did.
