Bios Mods -The Best BIOS Update and Modification Source

Hello, I'm a complete newbie here so please let me know if I posted in the wrong area.

~Request~
The Dell Latitude D600 is accusing me of using a off-brand AC Adapter so my battery will not charge and cpu performance is throttled, I cannot flash a new bios because the system is saying I must have both the battery and AC Adapter plugged in as well.

My requests
-Allow the Laptop to charge regardless of AC Adapter used
-The bios must be able to flash without being plugged in

The below given instructions will make your laptop to charge successfully:
The issue can be fixed with the BIOS update. Please visit the Dell's Drivers page at the below link and enter your systems Service Tag # and download and update the BIOS of the system.
dell.com/.../NeedProductSelection
On BIOS update the system will restart and the issue shall be fixed.
If you don't want to update bios then check Dell Latitude D600 Manual and try another option listed in it.
