Please help add Intel 7620 AC wireless module to the Lenovo X240 BIOS whitelist. Thank you.
"Bios download link from manufacturer site."
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/download...D=DS036007
"PCI ID of the Wifi/WWAN card that originally came with the laptop:"
Vendor 8086, Device 08B2
"If the bios is RSA signed an acknowledge to be aware of the risks and an acceptance of them. Also note that many times is needed remove HPTOOLS partition before flashing the mod."
I understand.
"Please add in the title the downloadable file name like spxxxxx for hp bios, 3CN81WET for ibm/lenovos, etc etc so it's easier to locate files because many different models share same bios."
grw211ww_64.exe
Thanks!
Hello colleagues!
We also get stuck here with new X240 and X1Carbon laptops. I have few DualBand Wireless AC 7260 (NGW) card here. And unfortunately, error 1802 happens - unauthorized card blahblahblah and VID/PID string 8086/08B1/8086/C070.
Here is my bios dump:

Originally my X240 was supplied with singleband 7260 11n card which VID/PID is 8086/08B2.
Here is the donwload link for my current BIOS file:

Your support is required and will be highly appreciated.
Best Regards
George

it looks like the whitelist. Highlighted is my current Wireless-N IDs.
Thank you!!
This mod for intel 7260 ac only?
Can I use with this mod any LTE/3G m.2 cards Lenovo doesn't allow?
This mod works for intel 7620AC.
any other LTE support will be updated later.
later?
no it's not a good patch.
All you did is change card ID
8086 08B2 with some subsys ID to just
8086 08B1 with any subsys. Thus dropping support for existing 8086 08B2 cards that worked previously. And no LTE / 3G card will still work.

You should have disassemled the module and disable the whitelist completely so any card would work...
What i'm gonna do
I have change the white list to accept any 8086 08B2 and 8086 08B1 WLAN card, this is enough for me.
what I am doing is changing the white list, not hacking the code.

also i've tried to flash your changed bios using WINTPUP.EXE according to readme. that didn't work, gave error about changed bios file.
How did you manage to flash the changed bios? As far as I know, people use SPI hardware programmers since X230 times, because flashing of changed bios is not allowed, and using other tools FPTW, FPT DOS, even prr and prr2 doesn't help, because the flash chip is write protected on the chipset level.
