ok just making sure, i will keep it simple and just get the e3 1240v2, Thanks!
If you want integrated graphics, get E3 1245 or E3 1245 v2.

E3 1240 is based off of i7 2600 (minus 100Mhz to boost)

E3 1240 v2 is based off of i7 3770 (minus 100mhz to boost)

if you want the best Socket 1155 CPU, get the Intel Xeon E3 1290 v2, it has 3.7Ghz base clock and 4.1Ghz boost clock and is not based on any consumer CPU. Some engineering samples are unlocked.
Thank you so much for your help, yea i was originally going to get one with integrated graphics but i have an old quadro laying around so ill just use it for display.

It's a normal Intel CPU, yes it is stable, no reason it would not be.

Both mobos are the same but 390 supports only 2nd gen Sandy Brigde.
3010 supports 2nd and 3rd gen i3, i5, i7.

The 390 uses H67, the 3010 uses H61. They are not intercompatible.
so from the the first few pages i see, i should be posting with on my 3010 SFF with bios A15 using my Intel XEON E3-1240V2 but, i can only seems to post with the original i5 that came in it. unless my ebay xeon is bad but, i don't think i've ever received a bad cpu before.

EDIT: EDIT: reinstalled old cpu, installed win10, installed Dell Command Updated, updated bios. reports as A22, re-reinstalled new xeon E3-1240V2 and it boots up fine now.
