I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 that's running a Pentium 4/512/533 2.40Ghz. Trying to get better frames in Oblivion. 10FPS to 60FPS 640x480... nVidia GeforceĀ 8400GS...

I have newer Prescott Celeron D 2.80GHz/256/533...but latest A05 BIOS does not support.

Can someone here help?

Note: this is NOT my main rig, my main rig uses a Xeon and a GTX 1070...this is just for lulz.
Tell sSpec of your Celeron D.
Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with native CPU.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with new CPU.
sSpec of Celeron D is SL7NW

Is NW northwood? Why does it not work if this board supports Northwood CPUs? It works in other boards just fine.

When I try to boot with the Celeron D the PC turns on by itself, no video, no beeps.

No Smile It's Celeron D 335 with Prescott-256 core.
Can this board support Prescott CPUs with an update? I know it's old...
I've analysed BIOS.
CPU with these CPUID are supported only:
F0A - Willamette C1
F12 - Willamette D0
F13 - Willamette E0
F24 - Northwood B0
F25 - Northwood M0
F27 - Northwood C1
F29 - Northwood D1
F30 - Prescott A0 (ES only)
F31 - Prescott B0 (ES only)
F33 - Prescott C0
I've add microcode for CPUID=F41 (Prescott E0): version D, date 11/03/2004. It's latest with suitable size.
Try to flash my mod of BIOS
I'll give it a shot in a bit, I had to take the PSU out for use in a different old PC.

"Flash access denied" on Win7 32-bit

Tried disabling UAC. No difference.

Tried running it from CMD. Same problem.

I've added the BIOS from the Dell site. Try adding microcodes from that.

You need to use native DOS. Try to make DOS USB stick by Rufus.
BR70278.exe is the tool for making bootable DOS diskette. Rename modded file to D2400A05.EXE and put it on this diskette.
