I am now using i5-3210M Dual Core 2.5Ghz HM76 Chipset and planning to upgrade to i5 or i7 that has a Quad Core in it. Is it possible for me to do on Lenovo G480? Sorry for bad english. Thank you
You need to stress current GPU and CPU simultaneously: run Furmark & LinX (with idle process priority).
Make screenshot of HWMonitor when GPU & CPU temperatures will stop rising.

Can't download LinX, I always get connection time out on lo4d site. I only run Furmark for this HWMonitor screenshot.

Furmark_Burn
Only i7-3612QM and i7-3632QM are recommended among quad cores CPU.
Is it going to be plug and play if ever i bought one? Or theres some tweaks to make it do work?
No tweaks are needed.
Will i encounter problem in terms of temperature once i switch to i7-3632qm? upon searching it TDP for both cpu is the same. Or do i have to consider something else?

No, you will not.

As you wish.
Was able to change the CPU to i7 3632qm. Now laptop wont boot. Tried changing it back to my previoud i5 3210m and it works fine
Try this algorithm:
1) remove AC jack, Main Battery, and CMOS Battery
2) remove HDD and all DIMMs
3) install new CPU
4) wait 10 mins
5) press and hold power button for 30 sec.
6) install CMOS Battery and one DIMM only, inject AC jack (without Main Battery!)
7) try to boot your laptop.
Tell sSpec of your i7-3632qm.
