can someone upload this bios for me? the download links don't work anymore.

thanks!
nevermind, the link started working again
Would running this unlocked bios resolve an issue where I can't get a video card installed?

I found this website saying that the HD5770 chipset should work.

http://www.memorygiant.com/vid...hp-presario-sr1720nx/

Although it's not exactly the same card. The card I own is an Radeon HD 5770 Sapphire PN# 299-1E148-102SA
HD5770 1G GDDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI-I/HDMI/DP

The video card recommends a 450W PS so I assume it's not a power issue since I installed the 650W one and it's been certified for the video card I have.

Here is a link to the Motherboard specs that I could find.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfr...n&product=501193#N433

Compaq Presario SR1720NX Desktop PC Product Specifications:

HP/Compaq motherboard name: AmberineM-GL6E

Maybe the Motherboard just won't support it but everything I've found tells me I should be able to get this thing to work.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

I have recently added a PCI-e HD4650 1gb video card and it works well. I have the same motherboard as yours A8AE-LE.

can somebody reupload the unlocked bios 3.15? Rapidshare link is dead. Please upload the file that includes the onboard ATI Radeon Xpress 200 driver.

Thank you
Will have the link up ASAP.

Thanks,
TheWiz

also is the vga bios updated to the msi vga bios to enable vga out?
did i just say that? i meant composite video out..

+2. Not as much interested in hidden options, but SB400 RAID would be a treat!

I scavenged this from the internet, perhaps it is of help???
So would you like us to try and replicate this PDF's results? I leave for vacation for a week tommorow, but when I return I may have time to do so.

That would be like a dream come true! I read that article on Geocities about 5 years ago and have read it over and over. Everthing seems very logical, but as it is still my main PC I haven't dared try it. I used to have those BIOS tools before my WD1002FAEX SATA III wiped out about 10+ years of data ($2000 to get data recovered...) I no longer have those tools, but I was able to unhide a lot of those BIOS features. I don't know, I've been too chicken to overclock it, and even more chicken to flash the BIOS with my bastardized one. I recently came upon this site doing a search for HP A8AE-LE BIOS to find that page again (apparently Geocities is no longer, but it's cached here at oocities. You can also go one level up, there's other relevant A8AE-LE pages there. I see you've been able to put SLIC in there too which was another reason to mod the BIOS.

If you have the time (VACATION comes first LOL!), other peoples would be happy too! I am usually over at badcaps.net forum, but I'm always looking to meet new and interesting people!
TheWiz, if you can mod this BIOS, I think you'll be a hero to a lot of people (including me)!
Hello, i am new here and hate bringing up OOOLD threads but had to sign in and ask some more information about this board. i have (and am currently using) the Asus A8AE-LE board out of an old hp a friend gave me a while back. its got a 2.2 in it so its not totally useless yet, and runs windows 7 fairly well.

I've been trying to install the unlocked 3.15 bios and have had no luck,

I'm seeing this in the AWARD bios section, but when i open my bios (i have to clear cmos every time to get in and it only lets me once...save setting, boot then no matter if i restart or not i can not do anything other than normal boot or boot dev select)

Anyways, the bios up top shows "Phoenix-AWARD Bios" and i have not been able to successfully flash only thing i have not done is boot with a dos disc but have tried inside OS on both win7 and XP Pro.

I have had several errors trying different suggested methods i have read, several boot parameter problems, then two different failed to update errors 1 and 9 respectively at different times.

Am i doing something wrong or what should i be doing exactly? ere have been several different methods posted throughout this thread, and several different files.

Thanks in advance for any help if someone sees this thread.

-Tyler

EDIT: also i have had the NOT AWARD BIOS error several times
